Lies - And you fill their souls
With all oppressions of this world
And all the glory you receive?
So, What makes you supreme?
Lies - Your crown is falling
I offer fantasy
And you, you creator are
Blind with envy

Let the children come to me
Their mother loves me, so shall they
Woman, bleeding, ate my gifts
Man was close behind
Just like a snake I'm slithering
Thru my world divine
And like the cat I'm stalking
I'll take your soul and You'll
Be like me
In emptiness, free

Just bow to me faithfully
Bow to me splendidly

This killer is the best MA song ever. The chorus is so evil. This song has a double meaning. First, it shows how a life of Christianity is empty and meaningless. Second, it shows that the true "God of Emptiness" is Satan, in which if you embrace, you are empty. You don't live with the constraints of God's laws. (Be like me In emptiness, free). Vincent also goes as far as claiming, in his Devil persona, that God is envious of the empty, unrestrained life that Lucifer leads now.

    Song Meaning

The song's about how Christianity is based on nothing but lies, that were created by a master of deceit, Satan himself. The lyrics seem lame, unless you understand what their about, because it's pure genius.

    My Interpretation

I actually believe the second verse is from the perspective of god. He is replying to the first verse said by his conflicting entity. (The “Devil”, I suppose most would assume.)

The first verse is, as the two-part title suggests, said by the accuser. I believe Satan and Lucifer to be two separate beings, whichever you prefer, but the accuser is probably one of the two. He is calling god out. “And you fill their souls will all oppressions of this world. And all the glory you receive?” He can’t believe god gets so much praise for creating man only to punish him for his flaws. He further claims that he can give man what he truly wants, perhaps to be like god; fantasy.

The second verse is a rebuttal from god. “Let the children come to me, their mother loves me, so shall they.” He is pretty much saying that his followers are bred into faith, and is fully confident that they won't stray. “Woman, bleeding, ate my gifts, man was close behind.” The serpent, again, a different entity from Satan and Lucifer, did tempt Eve with the fruit of the tree. But god created the tree only for Eve to eat from it. So, who is the real bad guy here? The “woman, bleeding” lyric is an obvious reference to women being punished for Eve’s mistake by means of their menstrual cycles. “Just like a snake I’m slithering” sounds as though god is comparing himself to the serpent. Gee, I wonder why?

Most likely wrong, but its how I always imagined the song playing out; a conversation between “the devil” and “god.”

I suppose I should probably post what I think this song means, aswell.

I think he is writting from the point of view of the Devil, and it's about tempting mankind to sin.

"Lies - And you fill their souls With all oppressions of this world And all the glory you receive? So, What makes you supreme? Lies - Your crown is falling I offer fantasy And you, you creator are Blind with envy" Basically talking about how "God" lied to his creation. I could see this as the scientific community increases knowledge and the Bible stays back in its time. "All the oppressions" people dying everyday from curable illnesses and famine. "Your crown is falling" Non religious percentage is increasing was about 10% now its over 25%. "You creator blind with envy" God in the bible commands the death of non-believers and ordered the death of many people.

"Woman bleeding" When women in the bible receive their punishment by what we call periods. Which also bats have so did God also punish bats with periods?

"Just like a snake I'm slithering" The tree of knowledge. Not sure if first or third person. First then he is giving the world knowledge and receding from God. Either that or he's talking about when they ate the apple :)

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
