Freedom to finally taste all that I have been chasing
And now that it's here
Not amused, dear, at just how much time I am wasting
But the nights we stayed up all too late

The red and white stripes, they would blend
Them warm, washed-out lips
Ripped magazines to you is all I could send

Troubled heart folded
And doubled right over

Troubled heart folded
And doubled right over
Mon coeur, c'est fort
Perdu tout pouvoir

Make wrong things right
You get down to the level
'Cause bad things ces sont bigger than you

freedom to find, all it takes all that i have been chasing now that its here, not a muse dear (it could be "amused dear" but i like this more) adjust how much time ive been wasting but the nights we stayed up all too late in red and white stripes they would blend and worn washed out rips, ripped magazines to you is all i could send troubled heart folded and doubled right over mon coeur si fort perdu tout pouvoir [my heart, so strong, emptied of all its power] avec moi avec toi avec elle avec (mais ésé puis??) [with me, with you, with her, with...] nos tetes nos langues nos oreilles etaient toujours remplis [our heads, our tongues, our ears were always filled] mais les histoires, les chansons de l'appel de nos sens mon coeur ont hanté [but the stories, the songs of our desires (literally: the call of our senses) haunted my heart que je remis ma main dans ma poche et ma langue dans ma (popadé??) The french lines are the hardest to understand even though french is my main language. I'm sure theres still some mistakes. Freedom to finally taste all that I have been chasing And now that it's here Not amused, dear, at just how much time I am wasting But the nights we stayed up all too late The red and white stripes, they would blend Them warm, washed-out lips Ripped magazines to you Is all I could send Troubled heart folded And deviled right over Mon cœur si fort Perdu tout pouvoir (??) avec moi, avec toi, avec coeur, Avec (??) Ma tête, ma langue, Mes oreilles étaient toujours remplies Mais les histoires et chansons de la perte d'innocence M'ont tellement hantées Que j'ai remis mes mains dans mes poches Et ma langue dans ma propre tête Troubled heart folded And deviled right over Mon cœur si fort Perdu tout pouvoir Make wrong things right And get down to the level 'Cause bad things just aren't bigger than you

I believe the French in the middle goes: Avec moi, avec toi, avec coeur, avec un esprit (drawn out to "e-s-prit") Nos têtes, nos langues, nos oreilles étaient toujours remplies... Also I've always thought it was "Mon coeur, c'est fort" rather than "si fort", but I don't know how to distinguish those pronunciations in French.

This is what I believe is the second half of the song, the French and the chorus, and here is the interpretation, with the help of me and my French 4 friend, haha With me, with you, with heart With one and it’s taken Our heads, our words Our ears are always filled But the history and songs are about loss of innocence So much haunts me I kept my hands in my pocket And my words in my own head Troubled heart folded And doubled right over My heart, it is strong Lost all capacity Hope this helps.

Oh wow. I've heard this song plenty of times, and only this time did I notice that half of it is in French. :/ That would explain why I could never understand her.

    My Interpretation
perhaps... this is a song about someone achieving a long pursued goal and realizing that after all, it wasn't so exciting as he/she thought... So it gets him/her troubled about how much time he/she had invested in getting it.

no, I think it's about realizing that you loved someone in the past more than the person you are with. not that you're still in love with that someone in the past. they just changed everything and it's not easy to find again.

Here's my take on the French and its translation. It's only subtly different from hidfire777's, so props to them and their French 4 friend. :) Troubled heart folded and doubled right over, mon coeur, si fort, [ my heart, so strong ] perdu tout pouvoir. [ stripped of all its power ] Avec moi, avec toi, avec coeur, [ With me, with you, with heart ] avec un et c'est pris. [ with one and it's taken ] Nos têtes, nos langues, [ Our heads, our tongues, ] nos oreilles étaient toujours remplies, [ our ears were always filled ] mais les histores et chansons de la perte d'innocence [ but the histories and songs of the loss of innocence ] m'ont tellement hanté [ so greatly haunted me ] que j'ai remis mes mains dans mes poches [ that i kept my hands in my pockets ] et ma langue dans ma propre tête. [ and my words in my own head. ]
