How?s that hardcore fanzine? Still take the piss?
Why and T got records, demos on cassette.
Summer of the seven inch. Too cool for school.
Manifestoes at Kinko?s, pinko commies play no fools.

I feel the spirit moving over me.
There are clouds beneath my feet.

When vegans attack on ten speed bikes.
Tattoos with meaning, American Spirit Lights.

It?s hard to smoke ?em when you got to be runnin?
Congressional and D.C.P.D.
Lafayette Park undercovers,
The saddest sight you ever see, ever see.
Tear gas electric! You know I can?t quit this riot.
Strictly professional insurrectionist kid, and I can?t deny it.

I feel the spirit moving over me.
There are clouds beneath my feet.

When vegans attack on ten speed bikes.
Tattoos with meaning, American Spirit Lights.
Freshmen in fatigues. You know he?s fighting for his right.
Copious note taker. American Spirit Lights.

I feel the spirit moving over me.

    From pro-rock.com:

I got no problems with vegans. Let's be clear on that. But have you ever met someone who has concocted his or her own convenient first-world philosophy? Cherry picked all those bits of radicalism that appealed to them and threw out the ugly bits? Someone who thinks they're enlightened but are really jut a victim of the own peer driven self-congratulatory bullshit? I have. There's lots of those types in Washington D.C."

the self-congratulatory bullshit and peer-driven, angsty self righteousness of the professional protester are in full high-minded display here. miss neurotic is the epitome of what fallon described: too self righteous for her own good, too intent on justifying her own ideology with snide comments on a fucking music message board to realize that her earnestness for her 'cause' and her 'beliefs' is what makes people laugh at her. no one takes her seriously in real life and that has bled to this message board in the form of her over-dramatization of the effect this song has had on her. whoa is her. she's so persecuted. she's a victim. she demands an apology.

    grow up.

@ the aptly named MissNeurotic Clearly you are uptight, clearly you did not read the first line 'I got no problem with vegans'. Clearly you do not understand the lyrics. Clearly you know nothing about Clutch. Is any of this clear yet? The song is not in support of animal torture. The song is about the irony of the radical, fighting against 'the man' telling them what to do and how to live. The ironic part is they are telling us how to live. Like you, preaching to us about animal torture. Let's make our decisions about how to live and try to be examples to others, without being self-important patronizing pricks.

If you know what Clutch is about and you don't walk through life with blinkers strapped to your head you know that this lyric isn't about the fact that vegans suck or not. It's the same guys that sing "You can always tell the terrorist by his cologne and the watch on his wrist." and if you can't see that these are guys that have some humor and are writing humorous and ironic lyrics your problem is on another level than you're probably prepared to admit.

But what do i know!!!??? I'm just a sad Swedish meat eater!

Wow you fooled us by creating a second account! ...Fucking Troll. I will state again, this song is not about eating meat so bugger off. Did you get these brilliant facts from a textbook? "When an animal is killed most of it's protien and whatnots begin to rot." "swedish people are stupid anyways." How much should our feelings be hurt for 'having no soul' when the accuser has no brain?

"Second of all- people aren't suppose to eat meat. Have you ever seen a lion or a cheetah cook it's food before digestion?"

Okay, while I agree with you about the breaking down process of meat, freezing the meats stops this breakdown and generally speaking (I'm not talking every single moment, so don't accuse me of generalising) meat is frozen relatively soon after the "slaughter".

Meat is, in fact, meant to be eaten by humans - it's how we progressed as a species - how our brains developed and forced humans to think strategically in order to obtain the meat. And then, they DID more often than not, eat it raw. Also, the way our teeth are designed (incisors and k9s for cutting and tearing and the meat and molars to grind both meat and and plant-matter we eat) means that we are actually made for eating meat. If we weren't and we were only meant to eat plant life, not only would our digestive system be completely different proportions and our appendix would still be functional to break down the cellulose.

Here's the thing: if you want to be a vegan be a vegan; if not, don't be. It's a personal choice. Accept it as a personal choice and don't push your beliefs on others and attempt to undermine their authority and belief system.

I'm never said I wasn't uptight - I do get tense when people create conflict for having different beliefs or backgrounds.

Plants do have a circulatory system; they can reproduce sexually; and when they finish their last 'gulp' of water they let out a high pitched sound that can't be heard my human ears. They grow and turn towards the sun.

I was not suggesting plants feel pain but they ARE alive UNTIL you pick/harvest them - then they are DEAD; if you're talking about how it's wrong to eat something that's dead you need to consider this.

And quite frankly, simply because someone states their nationality does not mean everyone has free-range to have a go at it.

If someone said they were American or English or Australian, that doesn't mean anyone has the right to call them a "dumb American", "stupid Brit" or "ignorant Australian" because it's called racism if you criticise someone for their ethnicity - if you think they're "dumb", "stupid" or "ignorant" say that but be prepared for a backlash; it's human nature to defend one's integrity (which is why everyone is discussing this with such enthusiasm - people are defending their own way of life over that of another).

As I keep saying: be a vegan if you want to be a vegan; be an omnivore if you want to be an omnivore - it's a matter of choice and people should have that right to choose!

ShyBoysWinXO: You've got the right idea. If you want to be a vegan, hey, you've got my respect. You try to have a normal discussion (and/or try deliberately to piss people off). People like missneurotic, though, are zealous. So, I do my very best to annoy them until they go preach somewhere else (I'd do the same with any religious person, or whatever). That's what people don't like about 'militant' vegans; constantly they're trying to somehow convert you to their cause, and to be honest, it's annoying. Seriously, I can't think of any reason to be offended by somone's eating habit (unless said habits include, like, children of something... Wait, disregard that, eating children sounds awesome).

All humans have sharp teeth! not so much baby teeth but adult teeth, yes! (I'm a biology nut, excuse me). The front teeth (excluding k9s) are made for cutting; it's the way they're shaped. The k9s are for tearing at meat. The molars are for grinding both meat and plant matter.

"Omnivorism The key category in the discussion of human diet is omnivores, which are defined as generalized feeders, with neither carnivore nor herbivore specializations for acquiring or processing food, and who are capable of consuming and do consume both animal protein and vegetation. They are basically opportunistic feeders (survive by eating what is available) with more generalized anatomical and physiological traits, especially the dentition (teeth). All the available evidence indicates that the natural human diet is omnivorous and would include meat. We are not, however, required to consume animal protein. We have a choice... As far back as it can be traced, clearly the archeological record indicates an omnivorous diet for humans that included meat. Our ancestry is among the hunter/gatherers from the beginning. Once domestication of food sources began, it included both animals and plants... Relative number and distribution of cell types, as well as structural specializations, are more important than overall length of the intestine to determining a typical diet... Nearly all plant eaters have fermenting vats (enlarged chambers where foods sits and microbes attack it). Ruminants like cattle and deer have forward sacs derived from remodeled esophagus and stomach. Horses, rhinos, and colobine monkeys have posterior, hindgut sacs. Humans have no such specializations..." SOURCE: vrg.org/nutshell/omni.htm (Vegetarian Resource Group)

I'm not trying to be a smart alec, but I do know my stuff about teeth; biology student who has the text book and resource guide (hence the above source) in front of her as she types.

Again: choice people! Free society! Freedom of speech, choice and all that jazz!

    1. I Press tab buttons gratuitously without actually checking where they end up so I push enter and my comment gets posted. Meh. 2b. I think you were quite a bit more susceptible to my arguments than vice versa. You see, I have nothing to 'defend' while you put jihad on us all yesterday. ("I hope you fucks all die", along those lines)
    2. I still don't care about your opinion
    3. My comment about eating children was a joke. joke. You remind me of these people yelling at Callahan for his 'This is a feminist bookstore, we don't have a humor section' sketch.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
