Jenny, um, I don't know if that's you, because that didn't sound like you,
But you know, it's a funny world where machines could replace people.
Whoever that was, tell Jenny that Regina called her.
And P-S I can't believe what you did.

All the evidence points in one direction
Says I don't need you physically around
I've got your voice on tape
I've got your words in me
I don't want anything else
I don't want anyone else
Thing that I had but I dropped
All that I had but I dropped
I want you back and forth
I want you up and down
I want you inside out

I was hoping you could keep me company for the ride home, but it's okay if you're sleeping.

I've got your voice on tape
I've got your words in me
I don't want anything else
I don't want anyone else

And you say that I don't have this down
I've been practicing out loud

I just wanted to call to say hi, and um,
I think I might bring Marissa and Tracy up to Tapica

I want you back and forth
I want you up and down
I want you back and forth
(I've got your voice on tape)
I want you up and down
(I've got your words in me)
I want you back and forth
(Thing that I had but I dropped)

I don't want anyone
I don't need anyone else
(All that I had but I dropped)

I've got your voice on tape
I've got your words in me
I've got your voice on tape
(I've got your words in me)
I've got your words in me
(I've got your voice on tape)
I've got your voice on tape
(I've got your words in me)
I've got your words in me
(I've got your voice on tape
I don't want anything else
I don't need anyone else)

All the evidence points in one direction
Says I don't need you physically around

i think that when regina calls her, she calls as a friend to a friend- checking up because she hadn't heard from let's say jenny (since she's singing the song), in a while. but jenny doesn't answer because it kind of seems like she's gone into hiding after realizing her one true love, doesn't love her back. - and she's only now realized it. or it could be about lost love, or broken love all implicated when regina says, "And P.S. I can't believe what he did." and at this point, nothing else will make her feel any better, or want to come back to life basically, because like she says, "I don't want anything else, I don't want anyone else," except for whoever it was that broke her heart. it's kind of like someone left her, or broke up with her abruptly, or told her they never loved her at all.. it could just be a friend... but the person who left her still is a part of her life, but she's trying to push him out because she knows he doesn't feel the same. and her delusions are better than reality. "And you say that I don't have this down," perhaps hinting that this person knows she isn't okay, but jenny wants them to believe she is, try and regain her pride... "I've been practicing out loud."

and when regina calls for the second time, it's like when she says, "I was hoping you could keep me company for the ride home, but it's okay if you're sleeping," she asks because it's not like she needs the company, but she realizes jenny does, but she knows jenny doesn't want her to think she needs someone, so she twists it to make it sound more appealing. and than when the second friend calls, it's just sounds like someone else checking up on her, and feeling awkward about it.

i feel like the entire song is just about someone left in shambles, trying to pretend they're strong. Doing all they can to convince themselves they'll be okay without this love, but also admitting to themselves they'll never get over it - whilst simultaneously pushing everyone else away.

About a long distance relationship, or maybe about going on tour and being a relationship. This song reminds me of Tegan and Sara's "When I Get Up."

It's that Regina Spector in the beginning? I know that J.O.Y. was on her tour for a bit and I think they're friends. If it is that'd be totally cool.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
