Everything I touch turns to shit
Everyone I try to love won't hear of it
Now my hands are overfull of things I'd like to give
Does anybody want it?
Does anybody want it?
Does anybody want me?

I've been mapping it out
I don't know what's wrong with me
But I wish that it was something else
I've been mapping it out
Maybe you should find a girl who cares about herself

There's solace at the bottom of a bottle
Ba da da da da da
There's solace at the bottom of a bottle
Ba da da da da da

Everywhere I look I see your face
No button I can push, delete, erase
Got nothing straight but for the emptiness
No one left for me to miss

I've been mapping it out
I don't know what's wrong with me
But I wish that it was something else
I've been mapping it out
Maybe you should find a girl who cares about herself

There's solace at the bottom of a bottle
Ba da da da da da
There's solace at the bottom of a bottle
Ba da da da da da

Down here we've got so much time to forget

I wonder if this is how I pay for the things I've broken carelessly
Nobody wants to step on it
I guess I just keep drinking

There's solace at the bottom of a bottle
Ba da da da da da
There's solace at the bottom of a bottle
Ba da da da da da

The problem with falling is
Sooner or later you have to hit something

i always thought she sang "it's saddest at the bottom of the botton"... shrug

so the song, basically...feeling lonely. she's full of love she would like to give but there's no one in her life. i like how it is such a painful/sad song and then it goes into this really upbeat chorus.

    awesome song!

Not a very good transcription here...

Definitely "there's solace at the bottom of the bottle"

Pretty sure "Got nothing straight but for the emptiness" even though that's questionable..

And the last verse, for sure, "The problem with falling is sooner or later you have to hit something."

Great song, perfect for those feelings of emptiness from a lost relationship that you feel like you screwed up. So close to home for me right now... "So much time to forget." And the unfortunately welcome quick fix for that...

Mainly I just love the chorus to this one. It's so... unexpectedly happy. Love this song.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
