Sick of trying to find a way inside
Sick and tired of all the after
Sick of trying to find a way to slide
Even though it always ends in laughter
Its never hard to tell when things are done
She looked into my eyes and a voice said RUN
She says that I'm a mess but its alright
Whether it's two weeks, two years or just tonight

You can occupy my every sigh,
You can rent a space inside my mind
At least until the price becomes too high

I can find a reason that we should quit
I can find a reason to do it
I can find excuses for all my shit
She tells me just to work right through it

she's pretty and I like her but she's too well
'cause I need red flags and long nights and she can tell
Its not that its my fault its just my style
Beginning with a look and then a smile

You can occupy my every sigh,
You can rent a space inside my mind
At least until the price becomes too high

She don't need a thing, she don't need saving or a lay
She's got all the friends around and you can hear them say:
He's not into you he's into the idea of?
But little do they know that she's not through

You can occupy my every sigh,
You can rent a space inside my mind
At least until the price becomes too high

I really disagree with what everyone is saying here, he really likes her, not to much though he isnt obbseesed if anyhting she is, he is always having to sneak around though because she is ashamed to be seen with him and he is getting sick of it, he doesnt see why she would want to be with him if she doesnt like the drugs/other things he does (the red flags that he eats) but until he finds someone who is prettier who is also more of a badass girl that will do things with him she will do and he will keep playing around with her but he doesnt see her as more then anything then a pretty girl to have sex with

Sick of trying to find a way inside Sick and tired of all the after Sick of trying ot find a way to slide Even though it always ends in laughter Its never hard to tell when things are done She looked into my eyes and a voice said RUN She says that im a mess but its alright Whether it's two weeks, two years or just tonight

He's saying that she recognizes that he's mentally disturbed. He does things to hurt her but she always comes back to him ("it ends in laughter"). There's something fun and charming about him. She knows that she should leave but is drawn to him.

Chorus: He's addicted to her. Obsessed in some perverse way.

Stanza 2: Even he knows they should break-up,he's unhappy in the relationship (i.e. looking for reasons to end it and threatening to end it). However, she wants him to stay because she's sick in her own way. Perhaps she stays with him because she believes she can help "fix" him.

Stanza 3: He's too fucked up for someone like her. Even though she's pretty, he's not attracted to her because she's not a psychological/dramatic mess. She's not what he wants from a relationship. "red-flags and long nights" suggest to me stress, drug abuse, and warning signs. Often times one can see the red-flags cast by a mentally disturbed partner quite early on in the relationship if only one is clued into the signs. "It's not my fault, its my style" indicates that he doesn't think there is anything wrong with him, he actually enjoys dysfunctional relationships. He's with her just because she's attractive and he seduced her with his smile.

Stanza 4: He's not into you he's into the idea of... (imagine some perverse sexual practice). Her friends (the objective indicators of the quality of our relationships) warn her against staying with him. However, she's not done with him. Nobody can tell that she's f'ed in the head, they think she "doesn't need a saving or a lay". Appearances are deceiving. Did he make her sick with his mental illness or was she already disturbed enough to continue desiring him (i.e. "little do they know, she's not through"?

Mason's right. It's basically saying how he likes the girl and she could be good for him, but he wants drama and complications from the women he dates. She's not fucked up enough for him.

I lovethis song!!!!!!!!! I think he's in a relationship with a great girl but he's unstable and feels hes a bad influence on her as shes doing very well for herself. Even though shes probly a litttle excited by his bad boy ways though her friends warn her about him:)

Its just my style! What are "red flags" though? Are they like Red Bulls? Check out the vidclip on KCRW "Morning becomes Eclectic". Listen to the chord change 2.10 minutes in - that's rock'n'roll. Blokes can identify with the "two days, two weeks or just tonight". Alright!

i think red flags are like warning signs... like when you start talking to someone and you are said to ignore all the "red flags", like there are many warning signs that you can choose to see or ignore More specifically she has alot going on for her,and he likes her but he doesn't think it will work out in the end because he is into trouble girls hence the red flag reference

Am I the only one who thought the line was "She don't need a thing, she don't need saving orally"?

Love this song. I wish the intro was shorter though hahaa. I think its about the guy who had a thing for the girl, but can't commit to her. The price becoming to high is like other girls competeing for his attention.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
