Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck (Prong cover) Lyrics
Nothing breeds more contempt for this world
Than memories now formed
Every moment a new seed
Is grown to no reason, the trouble unfolds
For the trials of today
I'm no jury, really don't care how you feel
The pleasant notion of miraculous change
Drifts into multiple jeers
(Chorus:)
You want the good life
You break your back
You snap your fingers, you snap your neck
Seconds drip through my hands
Washed of moments unborn
All the spaces between bleed
A tribute to the sacrament never exposed
A message to the forces,
I've no pity, don't know how thankful to feel
Expectations of my daily bread
Gives me the hunger to steal
(Chorus)
Than memories now formed
Every moment a new seed
Is grown to no reason, the trouble unfolds
For the trials of today
I'm no jury, really don't care how you feel
The pleasant notion of miraculous change
Drifts into multiple jeers
You want the good life
You break your back
You snap your fingers, you snap your neck
Washed of moments unborn
All the spaces between bleed
A tribute to the sacrament never exposed
A message to the forces,
I've no pity, don't know how thankful to feel
Expectations of my daily bread
Gives me the hunger to steal

Sounds to me like they're talking about those people who think they're entitled to everything. Those kind of people who have been treated by society to something they don't deserve... take actors for example. Most are incredibly ungrateful. Those who "want the good life" have to work hard for what they want and what they need ("You break your back"), and those who want, want, want and are never satisfied or grateful 'snap their own necks.' "Snap your fingers" refers to the way stereotypical millionaires call their servants, I suppose... So yeah. There's my interpretation.
Also, to add, this is a cover of Prong - Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck.
Yes, Ichabod, that's exactly it. Awesomeness. :D
from demonhunter.net Written by Prong in 1993, “Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck” is a cover song. Demon Hunter decided to cover this song because it was a very influential song, musically speaking, to my brother and I growing up.
I’ve never seen the lyrics explained by Prong, but the way I take them is about life today and the endless struggle for success and wealth. The chorus says, “You want the good life, you break your back.” I think this is referring to the lengths that some people will go to in order to live a lavish life. To say, “You snap your fingers, you snap your neck,” is like saying that you wish you could just snap your fingers and make things happen, and you would snap your neck in order to do so.
this song means that nothing good comes without work. if you want something you gotta work for it. everything now is instant..instant sucess on american idol and instant food in the microwave. whatever happened to diligence and work ethic?
You want the good life You break your back You snap your fingers, you snap your neck
I agree with the working hard to get the good life interpretation, but i reckon the snap your fingers, snap your neck could have to do with how quickly one person's life can be destroyed. by the snap of the fingers.
So maybe its saying not to spend too much time building up so much favour in your life just to feel safe (for example, building up earthly goods in favour of building up eternal treasures in Heaven), and all of a sudden those earthly things can be taken away from you in the blink of an eye. Leaving you with nothing
@ForgivenOne Exactly my thoughts all these year, at least about the chorus. Working hard is almost always rewarding, but how often do we see those who can have all they want by simply snapping their fingers end up in places of compromise, pain, criminality, etc.?

For me this song means that most of the time we are forgetting Christ because of our worldly desires x)
i can't stand when bands like this do covers of kickass songs and try to make them christian, write your own songs and cover church songs

I would have to agree with Ichabod. but, I would like to add that it seems they are talking about the people who lust for what the world perceives as "the good life" and how people will do anything to reach that point. However, what they dont realize is that in the end its like suicide to yourself when you lose sight of whats really important to achieve true happiness and eternal life.
Nothing breeds more contempt for this world Than memories now formed- The hatred of society not wanting to change.
Every moment a new seed Is grown to no reason, the trouble unfolds- Annoyances of drama that no one cares about.
For the trials of today I'm no jury, really don't care how you feel- Apathy of what society thinks of you
The pleasant notion of miraculous change Drifts into multiple jeers- Unlikely-hood of society changing its ways
You want the good life You break your back- Nothing is going to change unless someone acts
You snap your fingers, you snap your neck- Not every is alright
Seconds drip through my hands Washed of moments unborn- Time is wasting as you wait
All the spaces between bleed A tribute to the sacrament never exposed- Nothing is sacred any more
A message to the forces, I've no pity, don't know how thankful to feel- Apathy for society and the ruthlessness in order to defeat it will leave society pleading for mercy.
Expectations of my daily bread Gives me the hunger to steal- Living up to these standards make you want to crumple up structures and become the "villain."
