You want the good life You break your back You snap your fingers, you snap your neck I agree with the working hard to get the good life interpretation, but i reckon the snap your fingers, snap your neck could have to do with how quickly one person's life can be destroyed. by the snap of the fingers. So maybe its saying not to spend too much time building up so much favour in your life just to feel safe (for example, building up earthly goods in favour of building up eternal treasures in Heaven), and all of a sudden those earthly things can be taken away from you in the blink of an eye. Simply put, this song is a declaration by hardcore Christians who are solely devoted and willing to serve God and His purpose by saying that whatever the secular world has to say about Him and our ways of life, we don't and won't listen and conform to your blind and dark ways. Not I is my favourite song on the album because of that message and it encourages me and say, "stuff your thoughts...you don't know any better than I do, but at least I admit that I am not perfect and weak but strengthened by Him and my life is in His hands...and that's all that matters...I have nothing to worry about anymore" I'M FREE!!!!! |

maxmouse2008, that line can be read in two ways 1. they are symbols for when signs that the sins we commit in our lives are so obvious but we still choose to ignore them and continue to sin, despite the warnings 2. metaphorically, supposing someone has a vision or witnessed a murder scene. blood stained walls and lines of chalk around a person's body. which could be interpreted as body spilled, words said, actions commited that have ruined someones' life and ultimately 'killed' someone in the process |
