This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Ever since the day that I was made I've been deciding the end
And I was made of wood and stone that won't diminish or bend
So when the heavy hand of death is here to take me away
I'll be the solid grip of time, forever holding my stay
Nobody ever made a force that took a beating like me
I call the earth and every scum to come and try to fight me
Because when I made the choice to live beyond the dirt that we tread
I felt the curse of mortal limit fall before it was said
When this season ends
One final heart-break
And blinding lights will guide our way
Free us our blind state
They will call us by our name
Undying
Tearing through these days I find the tolerance to strive and push on
I know what lies beyond this life for me is already won
No one can take away the blood that covers over my fall
Without the blood of perfect life I know I'm nothing at all
So now I reign forever hallowed in eternity's hand
No man can shake me from the everlasting ground that I stand
When this season ends
One final heart-break
And blinding lights will guide our way
Free us our blind state
They will call us by our name
Undying
We are the ones who will still remain when all is laid to waste
We are the ones who, when angels cry, will see them face to face
We are the ones
When this season ends
One final heart-break
And blinding lights will guide our way
Free us our blind state
They will call us by our name
Undying
And I was made of wood and stone that won't diminish or bend
So when the heavy hand of death is here to take me away

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
According to Ryan, this song is about how by having eternal life we are essentially untouchable and invincible.
I think possibly the chorus is reffering to when, as I was told many years ago, every person that has given themself to god is taken up to heaven (blinding lights will guide our way) and we are "free from our blind state." With the "they will call us by our name," I think maybe everyone that's given themselves over is called up to heaven, linking to my intial statement.

Just a thought though, total guess.
also...Incredible song!
Yep, this song was to encourage all the believers that we have eternal life, This life can't shake us from God. We are children of God, the believers anyways
We are all children of God. Just because some don't believe in Him or turn away from Him doesn't mean we are not his children or He does not love us. I don't mean to be a troll. It's just important you know this.
What does everyone interpret the "One final heart-break" to be? I guess I've been thinking it was the moment you dropped everything, let go of everything earthly that was your focus, (which is quite hard!) and started living for God.
Also before reading the lyrics I always thought "Free us our blind state" was "free our apostate". I guess it really doesn't change it all that much... ha
awesome song
@pnew If people are intellectually honest with themselves they've truly let in the thought that there isn't a god. Staring that doubt in the face it can be frightening and even overwhelming, the thought that there may not be a loving god waiting for us on the other side of their final breath. Your " one final heart-break" is the one where your heart stops, at death. Even if you believe in god, you are still blind to what lies beyond that final breath. I don't care how strong your faith is, everyone has doubts. No one knows for sure what is beyond that final breath until it leaves their body. In the meantime, this life is FULL of heart breaks, whether you've "let go of everything earthly" or not. No one is immune to having their hearts broken over and over and over again. It doesn't stop just because you "let go and let god". Life will kick you in the face regardless. And proclaiming belief/faith in god is like putting on a giant bulls eye.

This song is about overcoming all of that and holding to faith in spite of it, right through your final heart break.
One final heart-break And blinding lights will guide our way Free us our blind state They will call us by our name Undying
One of the best in The Triptych. The music video was cool! Go to demonhunter.net to find the Undying music video.
When I hear this song I think of the last chapter of the screw tape letters I don't konw if the band read the book but I know that it carries simmilar themes, And I think Triptych on the whole carries a similar message to that book. I would say that this song has every thing to do with eternal Life and as in the final chapter of screwtape that death is not something we should fear but see as only the beginging
Also the one final heart-break line I was thinking could that be death in that death will release us on to eternal life with God. Just a thought
The one final heartbreak is the heartbreak felt by loved ones when a person dies. However, that's the final heartbreak because we're undying, eternal beings.
i love how in the beginning of the song, he does metaphor thingies on how strong he is and unbeatable he is "And I was made of wood and stone that won’t diminish or bend So when the heavy hand of death is here to take me away I’ll be the solid grip of time, forever holding my stay Nobody ever made a force that took a beating like me I call the earth and every scum to come and try to fight me" and i interpret that the 1 final heartbreak is, like what u said, when u let go of everything that you in the earth to go to a better place when u die.
Demon Hunter is awesome, I'm just starting to like them. And lately I've been looking around for The Triptych but it's hard to find. So this guy at a booth at some market ordered a copy for me, I can't wait. But yeah, the song is about having an "after life" when we die. Undying means living forever.
"When angels cry we'll see them face to face?" That's the only part of the song I don't get... :S
Maybe that...they'll both understand each other's feelings at that moment? -shrug- Bad time for interpretations ^^ Just...random thought...
