I agree with the working hard to get the good life interpretation, but i reckon the snap your fingers, snap your neck could have to do with how quickly one person's life can be destroyed. by the snap of the fingers.
So maybe its saying not to spend too much time building up so much favour in your life just to feel safe (for example, building up earthly goods in favour of building up eternal treasures in Heaven), and all of a sudden those earthly things can be taken away from you in the blink of an eye. Leaving you with nothing
@ForgivenOne Exactly my thoughts all these year, at least about the chorus. Working hard is almost always rewarding, but how often do we see those who can have all they want by simply snapping their fingers end up in places of compromise, pain, criminality, etc.?
