For some reason I love this song, it got me into Blindside.

Most of this bands songs are about their Christianity. I can relate to this song in a million other ways aside from my relationship with Christ, but that doesn't change what the writer of the song meant. Knowing what Blindside is all about gives you a true understanding of their music. I find it beautiful that their songs can have such universal meaning to people, it allows people to know what a relationship with Christ is like by creating imagery in their lyrics the listener can relate to.

As for the music video- its dripping with symbolism. The girl is running, and the guy is chasing her. Like God chases after a sinner, note that at the end the girl herself comes to the guy- which is how it has to be, God cannot force you to come to him- you have to do that yourself. His arm growing long represents this in that his arm is so long but he still cant reach the girl.

GREAT LYRICS! This song is about falling away from God. Many Christians, if not all, experience many spiritual highs and lows. I think this song is about coming back to Christ. When he came back to Christ, he realized that all of the things he did were for the wrong reasons and didn't do them to glorify God. By wearing his heart on his sleeve, he's not going to live for himself anymore, he's going to live for God and serve him humbly and selflessly. Everyone searches for something to accept them and even though the one thing that everyone can have (the love of Christ), not everyone chooses to accept that free gift and they just curl up in the dark and don't rely on God to take care of them. The only thing to get you out of the dark is the Word of God, and it's that same word that keeps us coming back to Christ over and over again. He then goes on to say that he's struggled with things for a long time, but once he stumbles, he falls right into God's hand and realizes how much he needs God; he can't live without Him. He washed away his sins (wounds) with tears of hope...he knows God will forgive him if he asks and that everything will be okay in Christ...It's God's word that makes us run to Him. Only in His word can we find true peace and happiness and be able to live in anticipation of eternity spent with Him one day.

I think the lyrics speak louder than the video... the reason we have a christian way of seeing this is probably because this is a christian band with christian lyrics...

does it bother anyone else that some people can't accept that the majority of secular music is talentless (lyrically and musically) and that the best modern lyric and music writers are christians. and the same people wil accept any veiw, except christianity. if someone were to give a buddhist or hindu way of looking at this song they would be like "you know, i never realized that before" but as soon as they see taht is a christian song, immediately they are turned off.

I'm turned on lol I love the video. Even though it's about god, it reminds me of a person who's all alone ( after a breakup mabye? ) and is just looking for someone to be there. IDK it makes me cry cause that's how I feel. I think the video explains what I'm trying to say. Christian is a babe with good lyrics and a kickass voice...

i don't know if its about God, i mean, i'm really christian, but i also agree with moses, it doesn't always have to be about God. i mean, i can see them relating love like an addiction, like herion, always looking for an open arm, and the same old word, Love, giving him the spark. I'm going through the same situation now, not knowing if i want to say anything to a girl, but its so suffocating, so i think i'd rather wear my heart on my sleeve, and be able to breath agian... Life and Love hurt so much, and when we run, we seem to run to someone else, another hole to put the needle, another face to fall in love with, another heart to hide in...

i think this song is about love. Yes, blindside is a christian band... that doesnt mean that all of their songs have to be about christianity...i mean... look at creed (even tho the band split up)... not all of their songs were about christianity... at least i never interpreted them that way...yet thats for one to decide on their own how the interpret the song. they can sing about life also... which brings me to the meaning of this song.i think that its a song about love and life. cause he says that he smells her for the first time all over again, probably meaning that he fell in love with her again, and then he says " I slipped, stumbled, but fell face first straight into your hand. Then I hit my head on your palm And waking up to the smell Of tears drying up in the sand " and "All of us are searching for an open arm. Well, it's a shame how I curl up in the dark When it's the same old word giving me the spark."and i think that means that hes scared to love this girl.. hes scared to get hurt or sumthin so he keeps to himself still thinking about the girl.. but thats just my take on things... so... u know.. lol by tha way... this song also got me into blindside... they are awesome.
