GREAT LYRICS! This song is about falling away from God. Many Christians, if not all, experience many spiritual highs and lows. I think this song is about coming back to Christ. When he came back to Christ, he realized that all of the things he did were for the wrong reasons and didn't do them to glorify God. By wearing his heart on his sleeve, he's not going to live for himself anymore, he's going to live for God and serve him humbly and selflessly. Everyone searches for something to accept them and even though the one thing that everyone can have (the love of Christ), not everyone chooses to accept that free gift and they just curl up in the dark and don't rely on God to take care of them. The only thing to get you out of the dark is the Word of God, and it's that same word that keeps us coming back to Christ over and over again.
