I answer with a restless ok but I'm about to blow when you're gone
I keep this to myself; a restless ok but I fear the dawn
I've never been afraid to hide up in the dark
It's the first morning stream of pure light that makes me rather swim with the sharks
And it'll make me say I'm ok even though it hurts more if I stay
And I'm ok. Yes, I'm ok. If that'll make your questions go away

I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire
I'm afraid the light will set me on fire
I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire
I'm afraid the light will set me on fire

I'm cold, I'm cold, in a way I just want to stay
And I'm cold, I'm stone cold, this way

I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire
I'm afraid the light will set me on fire
I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire
I'm afraid the light will set me on fire

Reckon I'll close the door
Just pull down the curtains stay close to the floor
Mercy is for the weak; we do not train to be merciful here
Mercy is everything I fear; we do not train to see mercy here

Crawling again
The heart is screaming with a smile
Pride says no because of the stain
The heart pounds for love, but pride says no
Because of what the heart is longing for
I'm not sure, I'm not sure I want to be a man anymore

I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire
I'm afraid the light will set me on fire
I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire
I'm afraid the light will set me on fire

Reckon I'll close the door
Just pull down the curtains stay close to the floor
Mercy is for the weak; we do not train to be merciful here
Mercy is everything I fear; we do not train to see mercy here

The heart pounds for love, but pride says no
Because of what the heart is longing for
I'm not sure, I'm not sure I want to be a man anymore

I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire
I'm afraid the light will set me on fire
I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire
I'm afraid the light will set me on fire

This choice I've got to make,
I've got to make alone
A heart of stone
A heart of stone
This choice I've got to make
I've got to make it true
A heart broken in two

This choice I've got to make,
I've got to make alone
A heart of stone
A heart of stone

Reckon I'll close the door
Just pull down the curtains stay close to the floor
Mercy is for the weak; we do not train to be merciful here
Mercy is everything I fear; we do not train to see mercy here

I love how he talks in the beginning about how it was never the dark that frightened him; it was the light that terrified him. (obviously the light is symbolic for the light of Jesus). "I'm okay, yes I'm okay if that will make your questions go away." I like that part because it reminds me of when we have an altar call and you ask the person next to you if they need to be down there and they say "I'm okay", but you know they need to be down there... and my favorite line in the whole world: "I'm not sure, I'm not sure I wanna be a man anymore". so cool.

You guys know one thing I love about blindside? They're swedish, and that language tends to have better descriptive language. so all of their songs have this quality... like there are just some lines in their music that you stop and say "wow. that was beautiful." or at least I do. ;)

After much thought over this song, because of my friends negative response to it being "unchristian sounding" the theme is incredible. It is about hiding in sin and darkness and not wanting to accept God's mercy because of pride. It spells it out plainly. Not wanting to be a man because of the battle between the flesh and the spirirt.

Ahhhh! Nothing better than old Blindside! But I agree with Wheresyourhope.

I think that's exactly what this song is about. I can also add that this person is not only proud, but scared of being in the 'light', because their sins will be exposed.

I understand that sometimes the people that act very "religious" and only do traditions and don't focus on jesus can be annoying but they are still christians. And awdrq WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT if you know anything about christianity you would know that they are against homosexualiy and so why would they make a song about their troubles. This song is about a man (I heared that Christian wrote it about his own past) who lives in spiratual darkness and is doing things that are not pleasing to God and he knows what the light is but he is afraid of it posibly because he doesn't want anyone to know what he has done or he doesn't even want to admit to themselves what they have done.

didn't read all the comments but here it is first of all "KIng of the closet" has nothing to do with gay people it's in the terms of being in the darkness(spiritual darkness)

I answer with a restless ok but I'm about to blow when you're gone I keep this to myself; a restless ok but I fear the dawn I've never been afraid to hide up in the dark It's the first morning stream of pure light that makes me rather swim with the sharks And it'll make me say I'm ok even though it hurts more if I stay And I'm ok. Yes, I'm ok. If that'll make your questions go away

    • this is talknig about christians pushing their faith on him how he wants nothing to do with christians(this is before he was saved) ("It's the first morning stream of pure light that makes me rather swim with the sharks") and how they made him want nothing to do with God

"This choice I've got to make, I've got to make alone A heart of stone This choice I've got to make I've got to make it true A heart broken in two" here christian talks about how he has to make a chice about accepting Christ and how he has to make the chice himself and not have "christians" push it on him

"Mercy is for the weak; we do not train to be merciful here"

This line is from the movie Karate Kid. Kreese (the bad sensei) had this line in the movie:

Kreese: "We do not train to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak. Here, in the streets, in competition: A man confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy."

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
