At Least We're Dreaming Lyrics

When do we get to the part where I can go home,
been hiding inside the jungle gym for way too long
wiatin for someone to come along and find me
live in an apartment that bums me out
it don?t get better when the lights go out
wiatin for someone to come along and find me
swimin through the isles at the grocery store
I don?t even know what im lookin for
wiatin for someone to come along and find me

at least im breathin
at least im alive
as long as im dreamin
everythings gonna be alright

to the corner to call collect
your mother wants to know are you happy yet
wiatin for someone to come along and find you
goin out at night lookin for distractions
sleepin through the day theres no redemption
wiatin for someone to come along and find you

at least im breathin
at least im alive
as long as im dreamin
everythings gonna be alright

im alright, I tell myself twice
in the mirror before I cant go to sleep at night
I need a lullaby I need some time
I need to get a dime bag from my guy [x2]

at least im breathin
at least im alive
as long as im dreamin
everythings gonna be alright

im alright, I tell myself twice
in the mirror before I cant go to sleep at night
I need a lullaby I need some time
I need to get a dime bag from my guy [x2]

I took this song much different then 'moon in mourning'. I see this more as a "Everything's gonna be alright song"... Which is funny because that's in the lyrics.

I see it more as someone with something missing in there life, and his/her search for it. Their waiting for someone to come along and fine. Waiting for love, to be discovered, whatever.

"to the corner to call collect your mother wants to know are you happy yet wiatin for someone to come along and find you goin out at night lookin for distractions sleepin through the day theres no redemption wiatin for someone to come along and find you"

I think it's more like your mother asking youif you've found what your looking for. If you're happy with your life. If you've decided to give up on dreams and do something logical. Going out and looking for distractions from the empitness, whatever it may be...

Basically that's it. Someone waiting for something, and deciding that even though it may never come, it's okay. Because at least we're dreaming, and alive.

And of course the drug reference. It's stressful waiting for something tohappen and having nothing occur. Drugs help some people cope.

Eve 6 always brings substance and great sound to the table. He needs "someone" or I think "something" to help bring him out of his hole and away from all the daily bull shit. He says, "At least we're dreaming" which if you think about something for a second, it is a sign of sanity to dream. He is saying he is thankful to still be healthy and living. It's most definitley an uplifting song that you can play loud as shit.

This song is great, typical Eve 6 to come up with the goods. You know what I love about them....well their album isn't made up of say 3 hit singles then 10 filler tracks. I've had 'It's All In Your Head' for a while now and it's hard to pick out which songs would be released as a single, they are all great in thier own right. So much honesty on this album. It's incredible.

i think this is about a young couple moving into together and possibly realizing they arnt happy and they both deal with in different ways. the guy by buying and doing drugs and the girl by sleeping around and their only source of happiness is dreaming of a better life and hoping that one day it will be better for them

"live in an apartment that bums me out it dont get better when the lights go out" they probably sleep in different rooms, the guy probably on the couch

"to the corner to call collect your mother wants to know are you happy yet wiatin for someone to come along and find you goin out at night lookin for distractions sleepin through the day theres no redemption wiatin for someone to come along and find you" she left after her mom told her not too and she wants to know if shes happy with the way shes living because shes sleeping around, trying to distract herself from whats going on at home

"im alright, I tell myself twice in the mirror before I cant go to sleep at night I need a lullaby I need some time I need to get a dime bag from my guy" the guy deals with it by doing drugs

hope that made sense

Just wanted to note that the lyrics are off. In the second chorus he says "At least you're dreaming" and after that its "At least we're dreaming" I agree with kuzunoha on the meaning. Its a happy song. =D

i think this is about living a life that just seems completely burned out. one of my favorite lines in any song is "waiting for someone to come along and find me" which is simple but so prefectly sumarizes that feeling of living everyday just to get through

the chorus is him trying to convince himself that everythings okay and he has nothing to complain about, but at the same time he feels like something missing

i think "at least we're dreaming" means at least i can dream of something better

I won't discredit the things said before me, but I can say what this song means to me.

From the get go, this song is about a twenty something, wondering when childhood stops, and adulthood begins. He's discontent with the fact that his life doesn't feel that much different from high school, it's still about things that are so very superficial.

He has no direction in life, he has no idea what's going on. But at least he's still going, and at least he still has his dreams and ambitions. There's still some sort of light at the end of that proverbial tunnel.

The next verse isn't necessarily about a lover, it may just be a friend. One whos' going through similiar difficulties, but handling it in different ways. Where as the singer is keeping to himself, and falling into himself, the one sung about in the second verse goes out and surrounds him or herself in distraction, be it drinking or drug abuse, or rampant tantric sex. At the end of the day, they're both equally disenchanted with life in general.

It's a song about the realization that no matter how old you get, no matter how bad things get, no matter how good things get, there will always be a need for an escape. There'll always be that something more you want. You'll never truely be satisfied.

Finding ones way back home, a desire to go back to the simple life, when there weren't so many questions without answers. So many problems without solutions.

It's about a young adult, and the problems we face. Despeartely searching for someone who can find our answers for us, but realizing that the harder we look, the harder it is to find them.

It's about life with others your age, that share your problems, but don't ever truly understand what's going oin in your life.

This song is what the twenties are. It really is. If it doesn't apply to you, it applies to someone you know, and maybe you're the one that the second verse talks about.

Food for thought.

in my opinion this is a pretty strait forward song just about how theres going to be bad shit that happens, you'll have bad days and an apartment that you hate but as long as your alive and as long as you keep dreaming everything will be alright. i'm not sure how the drugs come into play... maybe thats his way of staying alive, but i feel its a song of hope. just stay alive and we're gonna be alright.

the first part shows how out of it he is he doesnt even know what he's looking for and he just wants someone to come and get him out of his daze. he know everything is gonna be allright so he's just glad he's alive. and knowing things will get better he lives each day as good he can.

"im alright, I tell myself twice in the mirror before I cant go to sleep at night I need a lullaby I need some time I need to get a dime bag from my guy"

he's telling himself eveythings fine but he knows he wants someone to help him live his life "i need a lullaby" but in the mean time no one is there so he uses his drug to get him through.

I think it's pretty straightforward.

His life is nothing without a significant other, and he knows that. Nothing else can fill the void that exists from his lack of a partner. He doesn't know how to find that person, and he doesn't want to meet that person in the typical way. i.e. Meet at a bar... He wants their meeting to be romantic/"out of the ordinary". In other words, he feels he cannot proactively seek this person because he thinks that would be 'forcing' something that is meant to be. He continues to dream of this person, and for now, that suffices.

In the second part of the song, he describes what he feels this significant other of his is likely doing while waiting to meet him. It's not necessarily important what they're doing, it is only important that the person does indeed exist and is waiting for him as well.

The final part of the song is about how their 'dreams' will be all they need to get by until they do find each other. This idea suggests that there is no doubt in either of their minds that the other person is out there, they just haven't found each other yet.

Very good song in my opinion. I can connect to it well, as I am what you might call a 'hopeless romantic' in that I am not into forced connections between two people. When the magic happens, you'll know :)
