It's about lying about who you are, and sometimes it's completely obvious that you're lying, like when you see teenagers being really interested in their coffee mug or water bottle, you know what's in there isn't what is supposed to be. Alkaline Trio isn't a sell out band, The Cure could have told them not to cover the song, but they covered it, and it was good. I think the part "it came up unexpected, I had to follow through, and it's hard when you were looking like you do" is about them meeting up again after breaking up, seeing each other and then all the feelings rush back, the feelings lead them into having sex which makes it harder to let go. I don't know what would frighten me more, ICP getting more fans or the ICP fans I knew in high school never growing up enough to stop liking them. They were great friends... when I was fourteen.
The things he mentions are great things, and it's great that he's impressed, I guess, but he sounds like a complete idiot, it could have been stated in a more eloquent fashion (eloquent means pretty sounding, translations for ICP fans.) I love words that are considered vulgar (swearing), but the way they are used in this song makes them lose their beauty, they have absolutely no point and no emotion to them. The bullshit about scientists is ridiculous, knowing how something works doesn't make it any less beautiful, but refusing to learn does make you more stupid.
Also "magic miracles" is redundant (saying the same thing twice) |

I have loved this song since the first time I heard it, but I didn't know what it meant until recently. I was looking at the lyrics today and it made me think of the situation I am in right now. I have this ex, that for some reason that is beyond me I still love, and he's leaving me behind when it's convienient. I just want to talk to him, and even though he doesn't want to talk to me I just wait around because I want to talk to him so bad. Even though he's got someone else now, I think we were better. We still hook up from time to time, and once I told people and he told everyone I was a liar and ignored me for a while. And he's going on with his life just fucking around being a kid, and I am growing up getting through school, and if we could just ignore each other it'd be better and we know that but for some reason it doesn't work that way. |
