Worker Bee Lyrics

It's been a good year, a good new beginning
I'm through with the old school, so let's commence the winning

I've been a good little worker bee
I deserve a gold star

Don all the glands, black holes and lions
The constant companions of noxious suppliers
Carnival kings milking holiday sins
Comas in cashmere

It went from no good to fucked up and over
A total distortion of life, long (assorters??)
Barreling headfirst, the fresh open wounds
This I was not used to
Now that my words don't quite do what they should
Now that old wounds are re-surfacing too
It makes me feel broken, it makes me feel (good??)

It's been a good year, a good new beginning
I'm through with the old school, so let's commence the winning

I've been a good little worker bee
I deserve a gold star
A gold star
I deserve a gold star today

I am so pumped to purchase this album!!!

Mark Hoppus has really done a great job at sharpening this already amazing band!

Definitely a song I'm not gonna put down for a while :)

As for the meaning, it sounds to me like the boyfriend has done everything he possibly could to keep his girl happy, but he's still losing her ("Now that my words don't quite do what they should"). The worst part is that he never saw it coming, ("It went from good to fucked up and over"). Unfortunately, he's been a good little worker bee, he deserves a gold star; Will he get it? Not likely... :\

-Sean

Imo Mark could have done a better job mastering it. The entire album is brickwalled. It still sounds okay regardless. The songs however are pretty good. Different from I Am The Movie, but in a good way.

I think the song means that he's been a good slave to society (worker bee) and should be commended for his work. "It went from no good to fucked up and over" means he was a failure from the start and his entire life still went downhill. "Now that my words don't do quite what they used to" could mean his excuses that used to...

It's "a total distortion of lifelong disorders"

The song is about how he's overcome his addictions, sorted himself out and got his life back together, IMO.

Justin said that the song was basically a big "Look at how good I'm doing!"

from the lyric book: (corrections bolded)

Chunks 3 and 4: Gone are the glad hands, the black holes and liars, The constant companions, obnoxious suppliers. Carnivore kings milking holiday sins, Comas and cashmire.

It went from no good to fucked up and over. A total distortion of lifelong disorders, Barreling headfirst through fresh open wounds. This, I was not used to.

Now that my words don't quite do what they should, Now that old wounds are resurfacing too, It makes me feel golden. It makes me feel good.

I'm not sure about the Obama interpretation... Mostly because not all of it makes sense for that. I dunno. And I dunno when they wrote the song. I will say though that the, "It's been a good year, a good new beginning/I'm through with the old school, so let's commence the winning," would support that interpretation. However... If this were about Obama, it would mean Justin's writing it from the President's point of view, and I don't think he's egotistical enough to say that. Not sure. It could work but I'm not sold on it.

I had always thought of it as Justin talking about how he seems to often feel inadequate. It's the feeling that you've tried so hard and just want a little appreciation for what you've done; you always seems to come up short no matter what you do. You've been trying to get rid of all the bad things from the past but they always come back to haunt you.

Regardless of what they intended, it's a great song. And one of the best things about music is how everyone thinks of one song a little differently.

I suppose though, it could be a little of both of those ideas.

its obama.

his gold star is his peace prize. it talks about how they believe obama wasnt ready "gone are the glad hands" because "it went from no good, to fucked up and over" --the recession.

Barreling headfirst through fresh open wounds. This, I was not used to" -he cant handle office, in their opinion.

songs arent always about relationships, motion city had something serious to say, not just a couple who had problems.

They wrote these lyrics way before Obama. Idiot.

are you fucking nuts? It's about being hopeful, that this time will be different, it will actually work out. I really hope you were trolling
