long days caught in his room
trapped in the gloom of the dying light
his heart pleads through the wounds that he bleeds
the wounds he never can close
wrong way mind in a haze
never know what he could do
he thinks i gave her my heart she tasted my soul
now she's gone again
he thinks i gave her my heart she tasted my blood
now she's gone again

long days alone with his shame
fanning the flames of desire
his heart breaks as his memory plays
images of her betrayal
wrong way his mind in a rage
never know what he could do
he thinks i gave her my heart she tasted my soul
now she's gone again
he thinks i gave her my heart she tasted my blood
now she's gone again

why did you leave me here?
how could you lead me down here?

he can't decide where to go then
two promises one imperfect
walls he's building keep on crumbling down
walls are falling try to keep them sound

long days he thinks the time will be soon
pacing his room with his dark thoughts
his heart breaks at the road he must take
the road that will lead to the end
wrong way he thinks it's right for release
he'll never know peace in his lifetime
he thinks i gave her my heart she tasted my soul
now she's gone again
he thinks i gave her my heart she tasted my blood
now she's gone again

he can't decide where to go then
two promises are imperfect
walls he's building keep on crumbling down
walls have fallen now there is no sound

fucking we all know its a great song but post the meanining, thats why its here. i think its about a girl cheating on a guy, and the guy is all sad in his room. but that might now be the case because maybe what he saw wasnt his girlfirend cheating on him "he thinks i gave her my heart she tasted my blood"

Okay, so I reckon it's about a guy who loved a girl so much that he give her everything - "he thinks i gave her my heart she tasted my blood" (which is what he's thinking, for the record.). She ditches him and he feels like he's lost everything so he thinks the only thing left to do is kill himself - "the road he must take/the road that will lead to the end". So he dies unhappy and sad "he'll never know peace in his lifetime". Then the walls, I see as metaphors for all of his love and life built up into this relationship, only to be smashed down.

    I love over analysing songs.

Yeah I think it's about a guy who felt such pain from heartbreak that in the end he decided to kill himself. He has no life now that he's lost her, "Long days, caught in his room, trapped in the gloom of a dying light, his heart pleads through the wounds which he bleeds, the ones that he never can close"

A definate Masterpiece.... "What its like to be somthing on" wasn't a favorite of mine until I made myself listen to it the whole way through... It is truely a beautiful, timeless record that I will cherish for years to come.

yeah I felt the same, when I first listened to it I didn't like it compared to The Rising Tide and LP2. But now I think it's truly beautiful and truly deserves high praise

I've always seen it the way Tack-o-rama does. It's simlpy about giving absolutely everything in a relationship. He has given his heart, soul, and as the protaginist sees it, his entire existence to her. The relationship fails, and he has hit rock bottom. He spends his days alone in his dark room, sinking further into depression, and as we reach the song's ending, he has realized that there is nothing left for him, and he's decided to commit suicide.

SDRE paints an all-to-real picture of what sometimes occurs in our society. A friend of mine killed himself after his longtime girlfriend dumped him. R.I.P. Eric. 1985-2007

i agree with almost everything that's been said already, just wanted to add something about the title. the two promises are promises of love, being together, etc. "two promises, one imperfect." he kept it, she didn't.

    My Interpretation

"Walls he keeps building keep crumbling down." I love this line. Its like, when something is so painful and you keep building these walls to protect yourself in your mind. All it takes is just one little doubt, one little reminder and the walls crumble into dust...so true.

this is so song is so atmospheric, the best way to listen to it is to lye down on something comfortable, in a completley dark room, with the music quite loud

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
