He has given his heart, soul, and as the protaginist sees it, his entire existence to her. The relationship fails, and he has hit rock bottom. He spends his days alone in his dark room, sinking further into depression, and as we reach the song's ending, he has realized that there is nothing left for him, and he's decided to commit suicide.
