I am watching the rise and fall of my salvation
There's so much shit around me
Such a lack of compassion

I thought it would be fun and games (it would be fun and games)
Instead it's all the same (it's all the same)
I want something to do
Need to feel the sickness in you

I feel the reason as it's leaving me, no, not again
It's quite deceiving as I'm feeling the flesh make me bad

All I do is look for you
I need my fix, you need it too
Just to get some sort of attention (attention)

What does it mean to you? (what does it mean to you?)
For me it's something I just do (I just do)
I want something
I need to feel the sickness in you

I feel the reason as it's leaving me, no, not again
It's quite deceiving as I'm feeling the flesh make me bad
I feel the reason as it's leaving me, no, not again
It's quite deceiving as I'm feeling the flesh make me bad

I feel the reason as it's leaving me, no, not again
It's quite deceiving as I'm feeling the flesh make me bad (does it make me bad?)
I feel the reason as it's leaving me, no, not again (does it make me bad?)
It's quite deceiving as I'm feeling the flesh make me bad

Does it make me bad?
Does it make me bad?
Does it make me bad?

Does it make me bad?
Does it make me bad?

This song is about how Jon split up with his girlfriend/wife (I can't remember) because every time he went on tour, he shagged around, and it wasn't fair on her, so he basically told her, "I can't be faithful to you, so you are better off without me".

The line: "I am watching the rise and fall of my salvation" is talking about how fucking a new girl each night helps him to feel better, if only for a while, (the rise and fall, being her on top of him, I assume).

The chorus: "I feel the reason as it's leaving me, no, not again ,It's quite decieving as I'm feeling the flesh make me bad" is about him trying (unsuccesfully) to resist cheating, like he starts off telling himself that it is wrong, but as soon as she starts rubbing against him and shit, he looses all sense of reason and right and wrong.

While I don't really listen to Korn anymore, this is still a really good song, and my favorite by Korn.

I agree w/ the sex comments. I can relate it to me for sure. It's like this isn't the way he wants it. But after getting you heart broken by someone you truley like you try to fill the void the person left w/ anyone you can get with. I get the impression he doesn't want to do this but it's the only option that makes him feel a little bit better. I feel the same when that happens to me

    Song Meaning

I believe that this song is defiantly about sex. In concert, Davis sometimes sings "I feel the semen as it's leaving me, no, not again". This song is about how he strives to feel compassion and love in his relationship, but he can only feel anything during intercourse. It is a deceiving feeling, because it feels like something real, but he knows it not. This is what makes him feel bad.

    My Interpretation

This really isn't complicated, its about feelings that take over when the world is crumbling down around you. Its when the self mutilation takes over and you look to feel something in the blackness of your sickness. Johnathan endured abuse from family and peers. That abuse takes its toll on you especially when the world is dark in your eyes. I believe that being on the road touring is hard as hell emotionally and Jon wrote this when he was in a dark place. I've been there and every time he says you hes looking in the mirror and blaming himself for everything and feels he need to make himself pay the price for things that aren't even in his control, so he self abuses or mutilates.

This song and even the video is about MK Ultra programming. Feeling of hopelessness and despair. It's about mind control. It could be further explained with something sexual but it's all related to the MK Ultra. Something that's done to you as in mind-control, then you turn into this person who is totally under control and if it makes you bad. Look at the video too for full interpretation.

Twist it however you want to motherfuckers; but know that its all about cognitive dissonance, ie. doing some shit that you can't help but it rattles your brain and you feel the self-hate/tension/whatever the fuck because you should known better. It doesn't have to be an addiction, doesn't have to be sex, drugs, alcohol, etc. just stupid shit that we all do.

To me it's fucking a girl (hence "attention" & "feeling the flesh"), having feelings for her even though you shouldn't, and then finally self-destructiveness rearing its ugly head and fucking up what you really wanted. Maybe because sub-consciously you know it's bad - but being humans we get pleasure out of it (admit it!) - and the psyche takes over and influences you to throw all that away. Pick your poison, but we all have ways of unknowingly "saving" ourselves from inevitably bad situations. I mean this can really be good or bad. Just sayin....

To me this song is purely and simply about fucking, basically its about jonathan davies screwing every girl he gets the chance to screw, just another reason why he is the man

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
