To live like other people
I never think I’d do
And see my love I give into this dark

Flowers sing the day time
And this is sure at night
This woman said I’m torn between 2 lights

Visions of your lover’s
Holding you some dreadful lights
Wishing they will never be apart

It’s so hard how can I hold on
To someone I can not have
Obsessed with all the things that we could do

Take me on a night drive
And take me on again
The quiet trip we’re living
?
I’d never think I’d do
And to find someone love me really nice

First song off the Observator album. Fantastic, beautiful and soulful. I think Sune said it was supposed to be about the lonely individual in the city or something?

    Lyric Correction

i submitted correct lyrics, however they still don't show up. so i'll post them here... even as a non-native speaker it is quite obvious that there are a a lot of mistakes in the first version posted on here... besides that... such an awesome song!

to live like common people i never think i'll do and so my love i give in to this dark

flowers in the daytime and lucifer at night this woman said i'm torn between two lives

visions of young lovers holding hands in joyful rides wishing they will never be apart

and so again i hold on to someone i can't have obsessed with all the things that we could do

take me on a night drive and take me home again a quiet trip where we will meet the end

to live like common people i never think i'll do in defiance of a love not realized

wow. extremely haunting. this is actually one of my favorite songs on their album.

to live like common people I never think i'll do and so my love I give in to this dark

to live like common people I never think i'll do in defiance of a love not realized

The first lines basically says that they don't think that they can ever have that real relationship that most couples usually have and so this person is willing to "live" inside their own visions of what a relationship and love could be with that person that they can never have. After a break up, it is common to think that we refuse to accept that it's really over. To me, I think this person is in denial but despite it, they are willing to spend the rest of their life re-living the past over and over again.

I remember after my crazy(not my best lol) phase with my exbf. I would take night drives to all the places we had ever went. It was a numbing experience. I would just sit there in front of the store, or bench, etc. and try to replay those memories in my head.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
