Your lipstick
Smeared beside
I adore you
I always have
And every time you overdose
I rush to intensive care
Another said I stare
Before you disappear

If this is the last dance, this is the last dance
Then, save it me baby
If this is the last dance, this is the last dance
Then, save it me baby

Ooh, ooh
Then save it for me baby
Ooh, ooh
Then, save it me baby

Your addiction
And you are in love
Not star crossed
I wait my turn
And every time you overdoes
I rush to Intensive Care
Another said I stare
Before you disappear

If this is the last dance, this is the last dance
Then, save it me baby
If this is the last dance, this is the last dance
Then, save it me baby

Ooh, ooh
Then save it for me baby
Ooh, ooh
Then, save it for me baby

I wanna know, I wanna know
If it's the last, if it's the last
Dance
I wanna know, I wanna know
Baby, baby, please

If this is the last dance, this is the last dance
Then, save it me baby
If this is the last dance, this is the last dance
Then, save it me baby

Ooh
Then save it for me baby
Ooh (This is the last dance, this is the last dance)
Then, save it for me baby

I agree. Their kind of mellow songs are so soothing and addicting at the same time. For me, I think it's about that one person caring for another one who has problem with him or herselves. "Overdose" and "addiction", you can take it literally - that person take drugs cause he/she have inner conflicts, and therefore want to find an escape through what they do. The speaker of the song wants to be there for that person and before that person actually does that to him/herself, the speaker wants to get that last shot and just be there for that person. When you dance with a partner, you're holding on to them, so that last dance could be like saying "hold on to me".

This song is great. Sad, but great all the same. Love the Raveonettes! They are like the ultimate alterntive rock band, at least from what i've heard from them. Always a very mellow approach to sadness and happiness. very nice to listen to when you're on the plane or something like that =)

So fucking great. Even if this isn't one of the best songs ever in the history of the world, it is definitely on my list. Every time I hear it, I want to simultaneously smile the hugest smile. And then cry. But in the middle of that, I wanna dance! :)

And then probably cry some more.

Oh, I always thought it was, "then save it for the big day."

But now obviously it's "then save it for me baby."

Can't help thinking the opposite though.

    My Interpretation

To me, this use of words like 'overdose' and 'addiction' are used mataphorically to signify this obsession with this girl he has, that she is his drug, his addiction. It also seems like theyve each other for a while, watching her go through these guys, just waiting for his chance to prove his love, and that for one reason or another (she could be dying, i dont know), but his running out of time to prove to her. So, before her time runs out, his begging for her to give him a chance.

I agree totally with oujwells about the "sad-eyed stare". Why does nobody else realize that? Another expression that is misunderstood on ALL lyrics sites is "star-crossed". The expression "star-crossed" just means that you are in love with somebody but she is in love with somebody else - in this case she is "in love" with her drugs.

The real lyrics are thus like this:

Your lipstick is smeared and sad,
I adore you, I always have And every time you overdose, I rush to intensive care Another sad-eyed stare, before you disappear

If this is the last dance, this is the last dance Then save it for me baby If this is the last dance, this is the last dance Then save it for me baby Oooh, Then save it for me baby Oooh, save it for me baby

Your addiction and you are in love. Like star-crossed, I wait my turn And every time you overdose, I rush to intensive care Another sad-eyed stare, before you disappear.

If this is the last dance, this is the last dance Then save it for me baby If this is the last dance, this is the last dance Then save it for me baby Ooohh, save it for me baby

I wanna know, I wanna know If it's the last, if it's the last dance I wanna know, I wanna know Baby baby please......

If this is the last dance, this is the last dance Then save it for me baby If this is the last dance, this is the last dance Then save it for me baby.... save it for me baby

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
