Drag my hand behind you like a chain behind a truck.
Sparks over your carpet while I chase you through the darkness.
Somebody's supposed to fall in love, but nobody even calls.
Somebody's supposed to

Tear this place apart until you find me hiding, silently I wait.
You'll be excited just to see me someday. Everything's okay.

Summer and gold throw their colors at the dark,
A mother tells her son, "Darling look at the sparks."
But you hold my attention without even trying.
A beautiful reflection from firework eyes,
But never means forever.
Desperation and hanging in the backyard at night.
Somebody's supposed to fall in love.

Tear this place apart until you find me hiding, silently I wait.
You'll be excited just to see me someday. Everything's okay.

Love, don't forget to bleed so slowly.
Haunted hearts we melt over the fabric of your floor.
I'm holdin' her just like she's gold, but
I've been running from the sun. Oh no, no.
And if I ever catch the ones who hurt you,
I'm hoping that God looks away this time.
Why would I let you go?

Tear this place apart until you find me hiding, silently I wait.
You'll be excited just to see me someday. Everything's okay.

I used to drive six hours just to see this girl that I liked. She was beautiful, but didn't know it because she was from a small town. I went to her place once and it was completely empty because she was in the process of moving into another apartment. I remember making out with her in the dark in the middle of her empty carpeted floor. A lot of the lyrics are about that night. I recorded the intro to this song in our apartment in L.A. We used a lot of the original sounds from my ghetto little recording on the album.

    My Opinion

In my opinion I think the song is about a girl that he is chasing after. They aren't in love but just having a good time together. But she leaving so he's saying that someday she come back looking for him and until then he will wait <3

I like the line, I'm holding her just like she's gold, but I've been running from the sun. it almost means to me he's trying to keep her his but he's running away from the truth which to me is that they shouldn't be together.

Most people say its about a girl Vic liked, but when I listen to the song it sounds like he's wanting someone to love him. Like he's hiding from the possibilities of love and being hurt, but he also thinks that some should be there to bring him out of his hiding place, or fear, and show him what love is all about, and love him in return.

    My Interpretation

I think that it is explaining that the person is lonely. They have been alone so long, that they feel they don't know what love feels like anymore. Like has become a boring stance, like something they can't get out of.

"Somebody's supposed to tear this place apart until you find me hiding, silently I wait. You'll be excited just to see me someday, everything's okay."

They're saying that someone should be there for them, realize how alone and sad they are, and help them. They feel like one day, they'll be somewhere big, maybe not relationship wise, but one day the people that sat and watched this person be alone, sad, and helpless, they'll look back and regret it. Sort of like a moral story. :)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
