Sunshine, there ain't a thing that you can do that's gonna ruin my night
(But, there's just something about)
This dizzy dreamer and her bleeding little blue boy
Licking your fingers like you're done and,
You've decided there is so much more than me
And baby, honestly it's harder breathing next to you, I shake
I brought a gun and as the preacher tried to stop me
Hold my heart it's beating for you anyway

What if I can't forget you?
I'll burn your name into my throat
I'll be the fire that'll catch you
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
None of the colors ever light up anymore in this hole

Nobody prays for the heartless
Nobody gives another penny for the selfish
You're learning how to taste what you kill now
Don't mind me, I'm just reaching for your necklace
Talking to my mom about this little girl from Texas

What if I can't forget you?
I'll burn your name into my throat
I'll be the fire that'll catch you
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
None of the colors ever light up anymore in this hole

Just give her back to me
You know I can't afford the medicine that feeds what I need

So, baby, what if I can't forget you? (What if I can't forget you?)
Collide invisible lips like a shadow on the wall,
And just throw, oh no
You can't just throw me away

So, what if I can't forget you?
I'll burn your name into my throat
I'll be the fire that'll catch you
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
What if I don't even want to?

Oh,
Oh, oh
Oh
Oh, oh
Oh
Oh, oh

What if I can't forget you?
I'll burn your name into my throat
I'll be the fire that'll catch you
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
None of the colors ever light up anymore in this hole

Just give her back to me
You know I can't afford the medicine that feeds what I need
So, baby, what if I can't forget you? (What if I can't forget you?)
I'd better learn to live alone

What's so good about picking up the pieces?
What's so good about? What's so good about?
What's so good about picking up the pieces?
Oh

Caraphernelia "The last time I saw my ex-girlfriend, she left all kinds of random things behind at my house: travel shampoo, a razor in the shower, hair clips, etc. It was basically just a bunch of stuff that kept reminding me of her. After a while, it made me miss her, and I wondered why we ever broke up in the first place. When I wrote the music for the chorus, I knew right away that I wanted to ask my friend Jeremy McKinnon [of A Day To Remember] to do the screaming parts on the chorus and bridge. A few weeks after I wrote the song, I approached Jeremy with the idea and he agreed to sing on the album. It turned out to be one of my favorite tracks once we collaborated. One of my favorite things to do is make music with my friends. That collaboration makes the songs very special to me." -From Vic himself

I've always been obsessed with happy songs that have morbid lyrics. Lyrically, this song is one of the darkest I've ever written. It's about being obsessed with someone to the point where you're hurting yourself. A lot of it is written almost like a suicide note meant to be found by the one you love. It's completely crazy and extreme, but it's also comforting to say out loud the things you’re thinking sometimes.

I listened to this song for about three days on repeat, I can never get enough of PTV =) Anyway, I think this song is about loving someone that doesn't return your affection. Specifically, the writer is talking about someone who they love but already has a significant other. "You decide there is so much more than me" means that the girl he loves puts others above him. "And baby honestly its harder breathing next to you,I shake", he loves her so much that he has a hard time being near her "What if I cant forget you?Ill burn your name into my throat,Ill be the fire that will catch you" I think he's saying that's what he would do to prove his love "Whats so good about picking up the pieces? Knowing the colours thatll lie up in her mind before." This one is harder, I think he means, what's so good about trying to figure out what she's thinking, because there are probably other guys she's been with before him and will be with, & "Just get on back to me, You know I cant afford the medicine that feeds what I need.", I'm pretty sure he's referring to the girl he loves as the medicine and he can't make her love him.

Yuuuuuuuuuup, that's my interpretation! I'm not sure if it's right, but that's what I thought when I was listening to it =)

my favorite line: "wha'ts so good about picking up the pieces? What if i don't even want to?" i personally interpret this to mean what's so glamorous about moving on from this relationship if he felt the way he did about her? anyone agree/disagree?? i want feedback! :)

just kinda what i think of when i listen to the song. not saying its right just thought id post it haha vvv Sunshine, there ain't a thing that you can do that's gonna ruin my night (his night cannot be ruined simply because hes with her also she is the "sunshine" in his "night") but there's just something about this dizzy dreamer and her bleeding little blue boy (she has bigger dreams and hes just her little toy) licking your fingers like you're done and you've decided there is so much more than me (shes done with him she can finde better) and baby honestly it's harder breathing next to you I shake (hes still whipped) I brought a gun and as the preacher tried to stop me hold my heart it's beating for you anyway (his heart only beats for her)

what if I can't forget you I'll burn your name into my throat (as in ill always think about your name or keep saying your name) I'll be the fire that'll catch you (he wants to “engulf” herwith his love as a fire would)

what's so good about picking up the pieces (what does he get out of trying so hard if..) none of the colors ever light up anymore in this hole (shes not even lit up by him anymore)

nobody prays for the heartless (shes heartless) nobody gives another penny for the selfish (and selfish) you're learning how to taste what you kill now (she still messes with what she breaks (his heart) don't mind me, I'm just reaching for your necklace (Hes admiring her) talking to my mom about this little girl from Texas (talking about the girl he loves and maybe willing to propose too?)

just give her back to me (taking to the new guy she likes) you know I can't afford the medicine that feeds what I need (she is the medicine he needs) so baby what if I can't forget you collide invisible lips like a shadow on the wall and just throw(maybe they can have an invisible relationship) oh no

you can't just throw me away (you cant just let me go like this)

what's so good about picking up the pieces what if I don't even want to (what if I don’t want to try and fix this anymore…)

    i adore this song<33333

i think jadorehannah was close to the meaning. its about still loving someone who has left you.

"Licking your fingers like you're done, And you've decided there is so much more than me" she got ove him alreasy, and theres more boys out there

"and baby honestly it's harder breathing next to you I shake, I brought a gun and as the preacher tried to stop me, hold my heart it's beating for you anyway" its hard being near her after she broke his heart & hes considering suicide (possibly?). but hes saying she still has his heart

"what's so good about picking up the pieces, none of the colors ever light up anymore in this hole" whats the good of moving on when he still loves her? no other girls are good enough for him anymore

"don't mind me, I'm just reaching for your necklace, talking to my mom about this little girl from Texas" hes just admiring her

"just give her back to me, you know I can't afford the medicine that feeds what I need" hes saying that he doesnt have what it takes to keep her in his life anymore

"so baby what if I can't forget you, collide invisible lips like a shadow on the wall and just throw, oh no, you can't just throw me away" he still cant forget her, and after all that they went through she cant expect him to just go away

"what's so good about picking up the pieces, what if I don't even want to, I'd better learn to live alone" he doesnt want to get over her, and hes saying hes never going to find someone else to love

soooo yeah. thats just what i think. i could be totally wrong though, and it could be something completley different like flying zombie cobra-bears<3 lol

    My Interpretation

I think this song is a about a boy who is in a relationship, the gf cheated and now the relationship is dying, and he has met someone new & had a fling & now he cant forget the new girl.

(Sunshine, there ain't a thing that you can do that's gonna ruin my night but there's just something about this dizzy dreamer and her little bleed blue boy) -He likes the new girl, but maybe the new girl has had many guys in her life and he feels he might just be another one of her little toys, but he's dreamin and hopin its more than that.

(licking your fingers like you're done and you've decided there is so much more than me and baby honestly it's harder breathing next to you I shake I brought a gun and as the preacher tried to stop me, hold my heart it's beating for you anyway) -He's talking about how the gf has cheated on him once before, and things never really got better (none of the colors never light up in this hole anymore) -He wanted to 'grab a gun' and end the relationship but she still had his heart at the time.

(nobody prays for the heartless / nobody gives another penny for the selfish / you're learning how to taste what you kill now / don't mind me, I'm just reaching for your necklace / talking to my mom about this little girl from Texas) -He's saying he shouldnt have given her a second chance, if shes heatless and selfish enough to cheat.

-&Now the gf is getting a taste of what he felt like when she cheated on him, he's considering taking back his necklace, while talking to his mom about this new girl from texas.

(just give her back to me / you know I can't afford the medicine that feeds what I need / so baby what if I can't forget you / collide invisible lips like a shadow on the wall and just throw, oh no / you can't just throw me away) -This part confuses me.

(what's so good about picking up the pieces / what if I don't even want to / I'd better learn to live alone) -So he's contemplating weather or not he should try to fix the relationship...

    idk, FEEDBACK?!!

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
