Come stay with me stay in my room
My duvet smells but so would you
If you hadn’t washed in as long as I have
And i’ll wash my balls if you say that you’ll grab them
Nah i’m not gonna make you do that
Its just you and me on the bench where we’re sat
Socking back to my room and we can watch a movie
And your passion for you will go right straight through me
I’ll say something like ‘baby could you be the one that will always throw your love to me’
And you’ll be like nahh your just some pissed prick tryna get some of me and that makes me sick
And i’ll be like nah love you so much and i know it’s pathetic but i’ve had enough
Of being alone on my own in my home
i just wanna be here when your screaming and moan to me ‘Baby i want you!’
But i know you don’t you’ll just point at my boner and say ‘fuck off home!’

Melanie won’t you spend the day with me
I don’t know how to spell your second name but i’ll try
Melanie won’t you spend the day with me
Won’t you slap me one more time

And i'll cry and i’ll cry
And i might wonder why
This beautiful Mel girl don’t like this guy
Is it cause i didn’t wash my hair today
And a dry bit of hair gel fell your way
Is it cause my BO had nowhere to go
Except straight up your nose
But you smell like a rose
Not that i sniffed you of course i really would like to
Your not just some bitch on a bench like the boys that i lie to
The fact is now i was drunk when i saw you
Did i not make it clear that i massively adore you
You know i’d even quit drinking for you
i shoulda been sober but i didn’t want to
Before we started we were already over
Cos i can’t talk to girls when i’m sober
Girls like you aren’t common
And when they come around i miss them
But i can still say that i sat on a bench with the prettiest girl in Brixham.

Melanie won’t you spend the day with me
I don’t know how to spell your second name but i’ll try
Melanie won’t you spend the day with me
Won’t you slap me one more time
I’m sorry if you think that £1.50 was wasted
those were the best damn chips I ever tasted

Won’t you slap me one more time

Melanie won’t you spend the day with me
I don’t know how to spell your second name but i’ll try
Melanie won’t you spend the day with me
Won’t you slap me one more time.

Melanie won’t you spend the day with me
I don’t know how to spell your second name but i’ll try
Melanie won’t you spend the day with me
Won’t you slap me one more time
One more time.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
