I saw your queen
Swam out below her star on sea beneath
Though I lifted up my hands to her
She never lifted me

Oh something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone

Found something sweet
On the island with the daughters of eve
But through thick and thin they've gone away
And only left their grief

Oh, something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone

Something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone

Something's missing in me
Something's missing in me

Down here love wasn't meant to be
It wasn't meant to be for me
All is vanity underneath the sun (It wasn't meant to be)
All is vanity

Something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone

Something's missing in me
I felt it deep within me
As lovers left me to bleed alone

Something's missing in me
Something's missing in me
Something's missing in me
Something's missing in me

    My Interpretation

After reading the journal entry in the album booklet, I think this song is about how people try to find their love on Earth and feel empty and lost when they cannot find it, because it is God's love that they are missing and longing for.

I think the lyrics are correct, they came straight from the record label so they should be. :)

This is my second favorite song from MM. It just flows and has amazing lyrics. Such a good song!

ahhhhhhh Love this song! The more I listen to it, the more of it I think I understand. Would I be right in thinking this song's about the unending love that God has for us that no one (no matter how close they are to us) can match? I think she's also talking about how people/friends/lovers sometimes leave you when things go pearshaped. The "I saw the queen.." bit could be about her looking up to/loving someone who did not return her affection. Either way, awwwwwwshum song :D

    My Opinion

This is my favorite song from the new album.

And people, don't interpret their songs in the "Christian way" just because the band members are Christians. It's like what Lacey quoted P.O.D. for, "If I'm a plumber, and I'm a Christian.. does that make me a Christian plumber?"

    Song Meaning

Lacey is talking about how one sees love.. Or how a person once thought love was about, to say the least.

And all those wondrous thoughts you had about love leading you to paradise and an ideal world, broke down to false hopes. And no matter what you do, no matter where you go, you always feel something inside you that's missing.

    My Interpretation

    I really love this song.

I believe that over all it's about love lost. I think it gives examples of family, friends, and lovers lost. Like the queen being a mother figure who wasn't really around or the daughters of eve being friends that have just faded out of the narrator's life. In the end the narrator just gives up on love.

THat's just whaty I think:3 and how i relate to the song...

i think it means that she felt that she missed some love, and that people will let your down one day ,and that God won't let your down our leave you ,he will love you for ever with a incredibel love he has for you

I know this could be a wrong interpretation but im basing it off how it relates to me. I pretty much agree with everyone else but when she says

"I saw the queen Swam out below her star on sea beneath Though I lifted up my hands to her She never lifted me"

I think of it as confiding into Mary the mother of God. ( I once heard a priest say if God didn't answer his prayer he would go to Mary to ask her since she was more motherly? or something like that)

And basically she asked Mary for a kind of love on earth.(thats what i did)

For "Oh something's missing in me I felt it deep within me As lovers left me to bleed alone"

And for that part i pretty much agree with it i interpret it as A: Even when we find love, theres still that feeling of something missing you like a longing( thats God) B: Just the fact that she wants find an actual love(as in a realtionship) but no-one right really came? I agree more with A

well now that i actually break it down i see that i think everyone was right except at the queen part i think she's talking about Mary.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
