Come lay down in the water,
We're all sons and daughters,
Rest your head on the altar, oh,
Come lay down in the water

Piroutte, single step
Won't you spin me around the room,
Like a marionette?

And lonely maestro
Spin me real slow,
I just need something to get me through
The thick of it.

I have everything, from time to time (x2)

Come lay down in the water,
We're all sons and daughters,
Rest your head on the altar, oh,
Come lay down in the water

These silent offerings,
They're only causing
Oh darling I was never free, for the taking

We had everything from time to time
Yeah,
We had everything (x2)

Come lay down in the water,
We're all sons and daughters,
Rest your head on the altar, oh,
Come lay down in the water

Yeah, we had everything

Come lay down in the water,
We're all sons and daughters,
In the water

I can't believe no one has commented on this song before! It's just the most angelic sound i've ever heard besides perhaps sigur ros.

It feels to me like a sort of gospel song really. 'come lay down in the water' (reminds me of baptism), 'we're all sons and daughters', 'rest your head on the altar' (a church reference possibly?) and 'these silent offerings' (perhaps prayer) for me all have religious connotations. If not that, then to me it sort of has a feeling of a loss of childhood and innocence and growing up into an adult.

agreed, frontrowbaby. this is absolutely beautiful. reminds me a tiny bit of nina persson of the cardigans, or the innocence mission.

"these silent offerings, they're only causing oh darling I was never free, for the taking"

should be ""these silent offerings, that only cowards sing, oh darling I was never free, for the taking"

I think it may be a song written with eyes of solely faith, whether it be in an entity or a man/woman...she's singing about this, I think, and even if I'm wrong there's something undeniably utterly stunning about this piece

When I listen to this song it always makes me think of equality and acceptance 'come lay down in the water, we're all sons and daughters' We're all the same, and we need to learn to accept one another. That's what I like to think it means anyway. ^_^

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
