Troubled Lyrics
Freedom to finally taste all that I have been chasing
And now that it's here
Not amused, dear, at just how much time I am wasting
But the nights we stayed up all too late
The red and white stripes, they would blend
Them warm, washed-out lips
Ripped magazines to you
Is all I could send
Troubled heart folded
And doubled right over,
Troubled heart folded
And doubled right over,
Mon coeur, si fort,
Perdu tout pouvoir.
To make wrong things right
You get down to the level
'Cause bad things just aren't bigger than you
And now that it's here
Not amused, dear, at just how much time I am wasting
But the nights we stayed up all too late
The red and white stripes, they would blend
Them warm, washed-out lips
Ripped magazines to you
Is all I could send
And doubled right over,
And doubled right over,
Mon coeur, si fort,
Perdu tout pouvoir.
You get down to the level
'Cause bad things just aren't bigger than you

The french lines are the hardest to understand even though french is my main language. I'm sure theres still some mistakes.

Thanks for the help you guys! I speak french, but I'm nowhere near being an expert, and she's very hard to understand.. but I love her voice!
I believe the French in the middle goes:
Avec moi, avec toi, avec coeur, avec un esprit (drawn out to "e-s-prit") Nos têtes, nos langues, nos oreilles étaient toujours remplies...
Also I've always thought it was "Mon coeur, c'est fort" rather than "si fort", but I don't know how to distinguish those pronunciations in French.
This is what I believe is the second half of the song, the French and the chorus, and here is the interpretation, with the help of me and my French 4 friend, haha
With me, with you, with heart With one and it’s taken Our heads, our words Our ears are always filled But the history and songs are about loss of innocence So much haunts me I kept my hands in my pocket And my words in my own head
Troubled heart folded And doubled right over My heart, it is strong Lost all capacity
Hope this helps.
Oh wow. I've heard this song plenty of times, and only this time did I notice that half of it is in French. :/ That would explain why I could never understand her.
thank you all! just changed them.
perhaps... this is a song about someone achieving a long pursued goal and realizing that after all, it wasn't so exciting as he/she thought...
So it gets him/her troubled about how much time he/she had invested in getting it.
no, I think it's about realizing that you loved someone in the past more than the person you are with. not that you're still in love with that someone in the past. they just changed everything and it's not easy to find again.
Here's my take on the French and its translation. It's only subtly different from hidfire777's, so props to them and their French 4 friend. :)
