Well hello,
You'll have to excuse me.
I just turned out the light,
I was dreaming.
You're the last person i expected to hear.
When I came home,
There was a message on the phone.
It said to come over.
But it was too late,
So I left you alone.
And yes,
I'm doing fine,
And thanks for asking.
It's been a long time,
You know time keeps
Passing...
You said that you called me to hear
The sound of my voice.
At least I still got something
That works on you.
You know you make me crazy,
When you speak so lazy.
So what is it that you want?
You have my ear.
You, you can be cruel,
Why did you call me now?
I am no fool,
You sound so dumb.
How's your new boy?
Does he take you dancing?
I cant believe his name is Roy.
Can this be love you found?
Don't ask me what happened,
Cause i still don't know.
One minute we were laughing,
Then you walked out the door.
Well, sometimes I'm up,
And sometimes I'm falling down.
Lately my luck has been dragging
On the ground.
Oh but I'm doing fine,
And thanks for
Asking...
Its been a long time.
You know time keeps passing.

It's a break up. Girl misses him. Guy has moved on.

It's a beautiful and practical song, when you do have a phone call you always ask, "How are you" and the reply is similar to "I'm doing fine..".

So is this the most brilliant heartbreak song of all time? I think that this song is much more deep and meaningful than it appears at first listen. My heartbroken take on this amazing song:

"Well hello, You'll have to excuse me. I just turned out the light, I was dreaming"

Ok....so we find out in the next few lines that she has called him and left a message that she wanted to see him...but he doesn't call back....but she calls HIM back again....yet he tells us that he just turned out the light and was dreaming...and of course, we have to know that he was dreaming about her....

"You're the last person i expected to hear. When I came home, There was a message on the phone. It said to come over. But it was too late, So I left you alone"

He managed to avoid responding....the excuse being that it was too late.....he wanted to respond....but he resisted.

"And yes, I'm doing fine, And thanks for asking."

The typical response...."I'm doing fine"....we are soon to find that he is NOT doing fine. But it's what we say, isn't it? With a little sarcasm Of " thanks for asking"

"It's been a long time, You know time keeps Passing..."

Ah....time keeps passing....this is what life had become to him....passing time....

"You said that you called me to hear The sound of my voice. At least I still got something That works on you."

Amazing....a bit more sarcasm....at least there is still one thing that works on her....his voice. Has she, perhaps, conveyed to him that he just doesn't do anything for her anymore?"

"You know you make me crazy, When you speak so lazy. So what is it that you want? You have my ear."

Ok...he is giving in...what do you want?

"You, you can be cruel, Why did you call me now?"

Key word: "now"....why did you call me now? Why does he say "now". Because it is right now that he feels he has finally managed to get over her a little bit....yet she calls him now.

"I am no fool, You sound so lonely."

    Ah yes....she is lonely....

"How's your new boy? Does he take you down? I cant believe his name is Roy. Can this be love you found?"

Oh you have to hear how he says the name "Roy"....this drips with sarcasm. She has dumped the singer And moved on to Roy. But that doesn't seem to be going well....and Hay's voice drips with sarcasm when he says "Roy".....because it is a stupid name...

"Don't ask me what happened, Cause i still don't know. One minute we were laughing, Then you walked out the door."

The most brilliant and painful four lines in the song. It seemed great...He got dumped...he doesn't know why....he was caught by surprise and was devastated.

"Well, sometimes I'm up, And sometimes I'm falling down. Lately my luck has been dragging On the ground. Oh but I'm doing fine, And thanks for Asking... Its been a long time. You know time keeps passing."

The truth....he is not doing well. His attempt to get over her has failed. Her call to him just makes it all that much more clear and painful. Genius.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
