A Thread Of Light Lyrics
These words are a weapon for the ones in pain
A fair fight for the children of a lesser name
We are the war against the sick and fatal fall of man
A hollow tip to the notion of a Godless stand
Quick to slam the gavel on a true solution
You let the fear become a stranglehold
Tear it all apart so you can render your own belief
You never listened to what you were told
Condemned
You built a wall, disbelief is all you left us
Reaction
Without a thought, your resolve is to reject us
Chorus:
You found your darkness stands on a thread of pinhole light
And all you wanted was perfection
You found your darkness stands on a thread of pinhole light
So all you are is contradiction
You buried the chance in a self-righteous glance
So your sons and your daughters were safe
But your imperfect path is a heart made of glass
And the world is a charming grenade
Condemned
You built a wall, disbelief is all you left us
Reaction
Without a thought, your resolve is to reject us
(Chorus)
A fair fight for the children of a lesser name
We are the war against the sick and fatal fall of man
A hollow tip to the notion of a Godless stand
Quick to slam the gavel on a true solution
You let the fear become a stranglehold
Tear it all apart so you can render your own belief
You never listened to what you were told
You built a wall, disbelief is all you left us
Reaction
Without a thought, your resolve is to reject us
You found your darkness stands on a thread of pinhole light
And all you wanted was perfection
You found your darkness stands on a thread of pinhole light

"Quick to slam the gavel on a true solution You let the fear become a stranglehold Tear it all apart so you can render your own belief You never listened to what you were told"
That bit reminds me of the state of many of the Churches in todays world. They want to 'find a solution' to the lack of belief problem, and so they 'render their own beliefs' to fit with todays standards. This has sickened me, as I have been to several Churches where the whole thing revolved around singing and chatting with eachother, which is good, but there was pretty much no sermon. And they never even mentioned hell, it was all about Jesus loves you no matter what, which although it is true, they didn't know that they should strive to live a better life. They were told that they were perfect as they are, which is one of the most Un-Christian things that can be said.
My view of faith is obviously based on love, but, we are not to 'render our beliefs' so that others will like us. We will be despised, because we don't agree with many of the 'standards of today'. We should despise sexual immorality, we shouldn't change the laws to allow homosexuals to get married, or for people to get divorced for the incorrect reasons. And the punishments for doing so are made clear in Revelations, for it says: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of the prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
The rest of the song doesn't really agree with this idea, but I thought I would mention this, as even if if my interpretation isn't the intention, it is still a valid point and one that we, as Christians, should attend to. Otherwise our faith will keep being changed, until their is nothing left but lies that will condemn us all to hell.
Wow.. Wisdom is clearly something you are not lacking.... Whether or not what you said is exactly what DH had in mind at the time of writing this song, you certainly "spoke" truth and should seriously consider preaching or something like that.. b/c what you have to say is so real and accurate and could have an extreme impact on the way "Christian's" behave which would lead to the way we are viewed... wow

I agree, both with your interpretation and AbbeyRoad's comment. I also think that your interpretaion applies to the entire song. Some christians want "perfection", to be accepted by God and the world. So they create for themselves a faith that is mostly man made and man centered but hangs on to a sliver of truth, "your darkness stands on a thread of pinhole light," and that way you end up contradicting yourself. By trying to protect yourself from persection your created faith is "a heart made of glass" that is easily shattered by the "charming grenade" of the world....

this song is about how ppl's darkness is jus hangin there on a thread of light (hence song title). this song is great, why hasnt anyone commented yet?
this song is fantastic
This song is absolutely amazing! I was think that this song is about people (especially parents) judging Demon Hunter for their appearance and style of music. "all you wanted was perfection... so all you are is contradiction" I think that this means that the parents who judge want their kids to he "perfect" so their immediate decision is to deny DH.
And the statement "you buried the chance.... charming grenade". That is self exanatory if you read it with my interpretation of the song.
People do not comment, because the meaning is obvious! At least the lyrics in the chorus are clear...
Could be the words of an angel... Pretty much, yes. If you notice the lyrics it's like an angel talking and encouraging someone. ;-)
I think it means that you know "darkness stands on a thread of pinhole light" so, at least in my life, I can translate as :Even though everything is dark, everything is bad and I have no reason to have hope, still all that darkness has just a pinhole of light shining threw.
and "You buried the chance in a self-righteous glance So your sons and your daughters were safe But your imperfect path is a heart made of glass And the world is a charming grenade" for me at least, explains my kind of personality, I'll do anything to keep others safe, but my little innocent childish weakness was crushed by the 'charming grande' because I'm so adamant about helping others.
So I mean it all fits together.. the innocent (glass) heart was killed by the grenade, and should be completely dark and hopeless, but it still has a pinhole of light (hope) shining in.
I think this is about when children if u will listen to DH and then the adults without a thought have disbeliefs about DH
demon hunter is incredible. they have gotten worlds better on EACH CONSECUTIVE ALBUM!!!
While I know that DH is a Christian metal group, there is a real secular meaning here as well, that so many people overlook. I'm not a Christian, but I absolutely love DH because of the fact that most of their music can be both gospel and secular, which makes it a little something for everybody. So heres my $0.02:
Everyone is quick to self-serve and judge others on preconceived notions derived from stereotypes and stigmas, that we overlook the base humanity of people. One of the largest problems we face in today's society, all around the world is the "I'm gonna look out for #1" mentality. It's a dark and lonely way to love your life, and it will never get you anywhere positive. But yet, we often rely on and expect others to help us in our times of need. Most times, somebody will step up and help out, hence the "thread of pinhole light," but overall, without the help of others and the support of those around us, none of us would make it out of our teenage years. So all of that self-serving, self-righteous behavior hangs on the hook of the support you've had in your life. And all you have to do to enlighten your life is open up to the reality that humans are social creatures and we all rely on one another to survive and to truly live.
