Carry Me Down Lyrics
If you see me losing ground
Don't be afraid to lie
I know the pain inside my heart
Can't break the fear inside of yours
And if you see me losing faith in what it means to die
Don't let me leave before I know what lies beyond the stained-glass doors
Save sorrow for the souls in doubt
Bleed every care out
Will you carry me down the aisle that final day,
with your tears and cold hands shaking from the weight?
When you lower me down beneath that sky of grey,
let the rain fall down and wash away your pain.
For every word we never spoke,
We have a tear to cry
For every silence's like a wall between a better you and I.
So if you see me losing sight of all the death in life
Find the peace in every time I fail to see the death in mine
Let all the fear inside you drown
Tear out the blade and lay it down
Save sorrow for the souls in doubt
Bleed every care out
Oh, the blood is rushing out
Oh, I'm better off without
Oh, the walls are closing in
Oh, Sing for me again
(Rain down, oh rain down, no care for the flood)
Don't be afraid to lie
I know the pain inside my heart
Can't break the fear inside of yours
And if you see me losing faith in what it means to die
Don't let me leave before I know what lies beyond the stained-glass doors
Bleed every care out
with your tears and cold hands shaking from the weight?
When you lower me down beneath that sky of grey,
let the rain fall down and wash away your pain.
We have a tear to cry
For every silence's like a wall between a better you and I.
So if you see me losing sight of all the death in life
Find the peace in every time I fail to see the death in mine
Tear out the blade and lay it down
Save sorrow for the souls in doubt
Bleed every care out
Oh, I'm better off without
Oh, the walls are closing in
Oh, Sing for me again

I saw this song as more of a letter to loved ones about the death of this person. "carry me down the aisle that final day" which means on the day of his death obviously, "tears and cold hands shaking from the weight" so he wants the people closest to him to carry his casket. then finally "let the rain fall down and wash away your pain" Demon Hunter's message always has to do with Jesus, so in this line I think its telling the people he loves not to mourn his death, but rejoice his salvation.
And here is Ryan Clarks description as to what the song means:
"This song, although seemingly very sad and depressing, is in actuality a love letter to my friends and family. It is essentially something that I would want them all to know if I were to die. I ask my true friends to carry my casket down the aisle, and as they lay me into the ground, not to mourn for my soul, but rather rejoice for my salvation.
Death can be viewed as a very negative thing, but for Christians, it is where we find our true hope. Death is never something I would take lightly or toy with, but to address it I think can be very revealing. If you never spoke of the reality of death, you would be ignoring such an important part of life. This song asks my friends and family to “save sorrow for the souls in doubt,” for they know that my soul is safe."
Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death. -Isaiah 57:2
I think hes speaking to a friend, or people he cares about on this earth.
When he says "And if you see me losing faith in what it means to die Don't let me leave before I know what lies beyond the stained-glass doors" I think this is talking about what it means to die and go to heaven as a believer in Christ, but hes losing faith in that because of the darkness of the world(losing faith in what it means to die), and hes asking the person to not let him forget about God before he leaves this world, or the light that lies outside the stain glass door, which is the glory of God and heaven.
"Let all the fear inside you drown Tear out the blade and lay it down Save sorrow for the souls in doubt Bleed every care out" Here I think he's talking about the fear of death that Those who believe in Jesus should not have, that that sorrow should only be felt by those souls in doubt, who do not yet know the Lord.
"For every word we never spoke, We have a tear to cry" I think this about him not taking the chance to ether tell someone about Jesus, or help them better understand that if they know Jesus death is not a scary thing, but instead joyous. For every word he kept from saving them is another tear to cry.
anyway, this is just my interpretation of the song. I could be wrong.
The singer is dying, and is asking for his friend to be with him and encourage during his final days; and also not to become bitter or angry about his death, because his death will be the end of his suffering.
Such a beautiful song.
i think this song is about how the singer wants God to take away his lifes pain away when he dies. awsome new ballad by demon hunter!!! check it out on their myspace page.
"Save sorrow for the souls in doubt Bleed every care out"
To me this means don't feel sadness for the one dying but to instead save your sorrow for those that aren't going to Heaven like he is.
"All the blood is rushing out I'm better off without The walls are closing in Sing for me again"
Again the dying asking the friend, loved one etc. not to feel sorrow but to rejoice and "sing a song for him" because he is going on to a much better place.
to me this song is about a person who is near death and is talking or writing or thinking about a close friend. obviously ryan is writing from the perspective of the person about to die and is wondering about his friend's willingness to be around at the funeral. the whole thing with stained glass doors, being carried down an aisle with tears and lowered down under skies of grey all obviously have to do with the person being carried through a church and then buried.
also: there is one very interesting line in this song "All the blood is rushing out I'm better off without" may be a reference to Heaven whereas there will be no blood in Heaven in the resurrected and glorified bodies due to Christ's shed blood is sufficient enough for all humanity.
Having attended the funeral of a very dear loved one of mine who died way before his time, I think that this song is about a funeral and the dying or dead person is asking if their loved one would have enough strength from GOD to bury them and accept their death.
Most Demon Hunter songs are really deep, this one is no exception.
The singer is looking from a perspective wher he would be dying, and he doesn't want his friends to be sad about it. He would much rather look at his friends being happy as he's sitting in Heaven, above the skies of grey. He wants his friends to look at a better side of life, and think of it as if the rain from the skies are washing away all of their pain and sorrow. Some of the lyrics in the song make it obvious that he is being carried in a casket through a church and then buried.
In any case, the singer would like his friends to look at the brighter side of things when he dies, for them to sing songs of Christianity for him so he can hear that they've accepted the turn-out of things.
"Save sorrow for the souls in doubt".
To me, that part means that his friends KNOW he's going to go to Heaven, so they shouldn't be sad because they know he's going to a much better place and to save their sorrow for someone who doesn't know where their friend's going when they die.
Deep song. Demon Hunter's songs are always deep.
not all the lyrics are right. *Will you carry me down the aisle that final day, with your tears and cold hands shaking from the weight? When you lower me down beneath that sky of gray, let the rain fall down and wash away your pain.
