We Know Where You Sleep Lyrics
thank you Television, this song most definitely about using fear to overpower anything weak(er), and they wrote the lyrics so well
this is seriously the best song i've heard in a long while
Such a happy song about wanting to rape someone.
ieatbrains: What the fuck is your problem? You have this snot nosed, elitist attitude with every comment I've seen you make so far. You need to get laid, bitch.
I can see 3 possibilities for this song:
One is what the previous posters have indicated. Paranoia and fear as tools to control others. The governments view of it's people. "You know what your good for"
The second one is that it is a song from 'death' to humanity. He is sort of mocking our resistence of his pull, you can run and hide but everyone gets theirs in the end. He waits everywhere and you could die at anytime. In essence we are deaths bitch.
The last one came to me while watching Dexter, the TV show. The line, "I don’t know about you But I am at peace, I know what it is that I must do." After I heard that, alot of dots connected for me on the song. Not the most likely interpretation, but, one that puts a spin on it.
Anyway, take 'em or leave 'em, this is what I have to offer.
The "Death" thing makes sense because he would have a "bony" knee

I never get scared from horror movies anymore, I have never in my life have been creeped out by a song, but this album is absolutely terrifying. I love it. This is my favorite song from the album.
the chorus is so compulsively singable
this is my favorite song on the new album. the use of scissors as percussion is fucking brilliant.
The scissors really are a genius touch. This is one of the few songs that can really disturb me. And I love it.
This song, like the rest of the album, is supposedly about using fear to control others. This theme is very obvious in the use of the clip of a man frantically calling into Art Bell's radio station to spill the beans about Area 51 (That call is FREAKY. If you haven't heard the whole thing, go here--->www.metatech.org/Art_Bell_Area_51_aliens_audio_tape.html) . Also, if you like the use of scissors as percussion here, you should (if you haven't already) listen to "A little place called trust" on "Hide the Kitchen Knives." The use of knives in that song is absolutely genius.
I always thought it was about a cheating girlfriend/spouse and the protagonists psychotic reaction;
The first two lines are general revenge fantasy. "And the houses you’re haunting Will tremble with temporal hoodoo" refers to the other men's houses she frequents or "haunts" that will befall bad fortunes in his vengeance.
"I don’t know about you, But I am hellbent, I know what it is that I must do"; The first part could be taken as either a question of the other's intent, or that he's simply unsure of her now, either way he is hellbent on vindication. "Close your eyes when we kiss", although it's customary to close one's eyes during a kiss, this could also be his paranoia that she's thinking of someone else while they kiss. "‘Cause I’m prepared to set myself on fire for this" is rather self explanatory.
"And for this your naughty deed, I’m throwing you over my bony knee" I think gives it away. It's rather convoluted though because it sounds as if he knows shes a cheater but is still in a relationship ("Show me what you're good for", she's only good for sex, as a romantic partner she's distant) so it's unclear exactly what his punishment for her entails, however his intent seems more sinister for the men involved ("We know where you sleep" is an overt threat).
