I love this song - it's catchy, really, even if I can't understand it. From the words I CAN understand, the lyrics seem funny - Montreal, you are so cold, a polar bear in a bus...- or maybe I'm just REALLY bad at French (probably). Well, it doesn't matter - this song ROX my SOX!!!!!
Haha, I just translated this song with song probably inaccuarate translating engine (all hail Babelfish - not really) and found out generally what the song is saying....
Much too poor for pills, I however make (can afford?) the whore - I am null and all these things which I ejaculate, I run against the clock (time?) I run but I come back
Ô Montreal you are so cold, a polar bear in the bus I take as a starting point worse to enrich me and I love you so much that I hallucinate
papapapapadapada I overlook your arrogance you keep the rhythm you put to me in a trance
papapapapadapada
I have what I deserve and which pleasure
Your face on my magazine your prize list of concubines
Ô Montreal you are so cold, a polar bear in the bus I take as a starting point worse to enrich me and I love you so much that I hallucinate
The cat purrs (whirrs?) and you speak in your sleep and yet me I do not manage to close my eyes
Hmmm, interesting....I still think it's amazing.
Hey Lost the plot, I like your energy and enthusiasm -- plus I'm excited since I'm seeing Malajube perform tonight -- so I'll translate the lyrics for you properly!
Too poor for pills, I play the whore yet I suck, And all these things that I ejaculate, I'm running against the clock, I'm running but I'm going backwards
Oh, Montréal, you are so cold, a polar bear in the bus, I get rich inspired by the worst, And I love you so much, I hallucinate
papapapapapadapada
I try to ignore your arrogance you keep rhythm you put me in a trance
papapapapadapada
I have what I deserve And what pleasure
Your face on my magazine Your pageant of concubines
Oh Montréal you are so cold, A polar bear in the bus, I get rich inspired by the worst And I love you so much, I hallucinate
The cat snores, And you talk in your sleep Yet I, I can't even shut an eye.
I'm no translator, but I think you'll find that this translation renders best the meaning of the song (if not it's particular rhyme or rhythm).
Enjoy!
Yup, thanks!!
hey! I love this song. I agree with Lost the Plot, it is catchy.
Excellent. I've just been to Montreal, I love it. This song is great. Génial!
There's something that comes between the last "et je t'aime tellement que j'hallucine" and "Le chat ronfle" but I can't make it out at all. Not that I know any French.
To take a stab at the song's meaning...it appears to be about Montreal. :P Which seems to be a rather cold and awful place but not without its charms if you've lived there long enough, I guess.
Very, very catchy. Makes me want to learn French to sing along. Best thing on the album!
Yeah i agree with dorian... it makes me want to learn French just to sing along :] veryvery catchy indeed.
Love it.
@dorian: between the last "et je t'aime tellement que j'hallucine" and "Le chat ronfle" comes again the "je passe sous silence..."- and the "Ton visage sur mon magazine"-part. there are no lyrics missing.
and again, really a very catchy song. i love it! but my french is to bad to be able to sing along, even though i understand most of the lyics when i read them.
This song is infectious!
