When the Stars Go Blue Lyrics
Dancin' when the stars go blue
Dancin' when the evening fell
Dancin' in your wooden shoes
In a wedding gown
Dancin' out on Seventh Street
Dancin' through the underground
Dancin' with a marionette
Are you happy now?
Where do you go when you're lonely
Where do you go when you're blue
Where do you go when you're lonely
I'll follow you when the stars go blue
Stars go blue, stars go blue, stars go blue
Laughin' with your pretty mouth
Laughin' with your broken eyes
Laughin' with your lover's tongue
In a lullaby
Where do you go when you're lonely
Where do you go when you're blue
Where do you go when you're lonely
I'll follow you when the stars go blue
Stars go blue, stars go blue, stars go blue
Dancin' when the evening fell
Dancin' in your wooden shoes
In a wedding gown
Dancin' through the underground
Dancin' with a marionette
Are you happy now?
Where do you go when you're blue
Where do you go when you're lonely
I'll follow you when the stars go blue
Stars go blue, stars go blue, stars go blue
Laughin' with your broken eyes
Laughin' with your lover's tongue
In a lullaby
Where do you go when you're blue
Where do you go when you're lonely
I'll follow you when the stars go blue
Stars go blue, stars go blue, stars go blue

I hope this song is at the top of the charts for two years. That way Ryan Adams can finally make some money. Otherwise I don't care for it.
I agree with you. Ryan Adams is usually a great song writer but this song doesn't have that much depth, it is just another indie love song. That's right I said INDIE, not country. =D

I LOVE this song...and ALL the different variations from all the artists that have attempted to sing it. ALL have such feeling and that is because it is a well written song. In my opinion it is about a man who loves a woman , a woman who was or even still is inlove with him. She is beautiful ...she is married to someone else and in the singers view she is like the husband puppet on a string and even though she is smiling he knows she is not happy he sees her eyes are broken. He is asking where she goes when she is lonely and blue because he knows she will feel that way through the choice she made but that HE will follow her he will be there till the stars go blue( and it takes a LONG LONG time for stars to go blue) so you could say he will ove her and be there for her...till the end of time.
well, to each his own, but it seems (at least to me) that this song is lyrically weak in its construction. plus the singer really doesnt seem suited to the song. all told, its pretty bad. . . yet i never turn the radio when i hear it. the translation sounds about right to me, tho i might argue that its just as likely (if not more so) that she only acknowledges him as a friend, that she has no romantic feelings toward her. it feels to me (no proof, lyrically or otherwise. just my own gut) that he has feelings for her, yet was always too afraid to say anything, and relegated himself to the best-friend role. now she's out-of-reach (married, in a relationship, joined a convent, etc.), and he's broken up about it, but still willing to do anything for her, despite the fact that they can never be. willing to do anything to make her happy, showing his love (i hate that word. never sounds right to me) for her w/o her knowing how he feels. but then, as i said, that interpetation is not based off of anything stated in the song, just a feeling that i get. and probably more than a little influenced by a situation i find myself in thats not entirely dissimmilar, so dont take me too seriously. its a horrible song that becomes phenominal thru deeper meaning.
I agree absolutely with C_La
I agree with C_La also.

I love this song so much. It's weird how there's always that one person that will always be able to see right through you.
I loved this song when i first heard it. But when Blake sang it on AI i melted. It was sooo amazingg.
I remember this song constantly being played on the radio back in the summer of 2006, i used to listen to a country radio station in the tractor cause it gets so boring just driving all the time. i kinda got hooked on it after that. good song to listen to if your kinda down and out.
Im not sure what this song is about but its awesome, cant believe there are no comments on it.
I love this songg!
