I LOVE this song...and ALL the different variations from all the artists that have attempted to sing it. ALL have such feeling and that is because it is a well written song.
In my opinion it is about a man who loves a woman , a woman who was or even still is inlove with him. She is beautiful ...she is married to someone else and in the singers view she is like the husband puppet on a string and even though she is smiling he knows she is not happy he sees her eyes are broken. He is asking where she goes when she is lonely and blue because he knows she will feel that way through the choice she made but that HE will follow her he will be there till the stars go blue( and it takes a LONG LONG time for stars to go blue) so you could say he will ove her and be there for her...till the end of time.
