how fucking depressing is this song? jesus.

I read in an article a few years back that this song is near & dear to Tim's heart because at one time during the beginning of his relationship with Faith Hill, they had some troubled times because of committments, tour schedules, etc. This song is near and dear to my heart because it reminds me of the relationship with my husband. We've been together for 10 years, madly in love but we just aren't meant to be together and it took me that long to finally realize that no matter how much you love someone, doesn't necessarily mean you are meant to be together. We had trying times that pulled us together and broke us apart but we will always remember each other, the positive things we brought to each other and the good times we had.

This song can be interpreted many ways by each and every human being. It makes no difference what the person who wrote it was thinking. Songs are to provoke thoughts and feelings in the listeners!

Can someone interpret this to me...I was told that this song reminds him of us. Or like from him to me.

This song makes me cry everytime i hear it. It always makes me think of my friend, he died last year and this song just breaks my heart when I hear it because the last verse is almost the exact lines in the poem that was read at his funeral.

Well, since no one is really telling us what this songs means to them...I will let you all know what I think it means: He is not worthy of her..in his eyes, I mean. He thinks she can do better than him, kinda keep her options open! Does that make sense?
