About A Burning Fire Lyrics
I thought about fire in the sky
I thought about fire
I thought about love burning in your eye
I thought about fire
It hurts
That drops of fire would fall so precise
And how everything else would loose its meaning
What a beautiful
What a painful surprise
There is no peace outside if there is nothing within
It hurts
But like coming home
Once dried up
I guess this is what you get
When a heart expands
I thought about...
Love is destructive
For the ego
And Your voice is the only thing
That speaks rebelliously in this world of claiming your own
There is no peace outside if there''s nothing within
Love is addictive
For the spirit
And Your voice whispers with a roar
That fire rises up, refills
Place the right king on the throne
I thought about...
I thought about a burning fire
I thought about a loving fire
I thought about Your love
I thought about fire
I thought about love burning in your eye
I thought about fire
That drops of fire would fall so precise
And how everything else would loose its meaning
What a beautiful
What a painful surprise
But like coming home
Once dried up
I guess this is what you get
When a heart expands
For the ego
And Your voice is the only thing
That speaks rebelliously in this world of claiming your own
For the spirit
And Your voice whispers with a roar
That fire rises up, refills
Place the right king on the throne
I thought about a loving fire
I thought about Your love

Blindside is such a great band...the way they incorporate their faith into everything they do...it's awesome to me! I think this song is about God in His Shekinah Glory...he appeard to Moses as a burning bush in Exodus and I think that might be what he's referring to concerning the fire. I think the first verse talks about how God's love comes at the right time and when that comes all the things of the world lose their meaning. Though it's painful to give up the ways you used to live, it's a beautiful thing to be able to serve God with your life. He then goes on to say that "There is no peace inside if there's nothing within"...there is no peace in any man if the Holy Spirit doesn't dwell within you. It hurts to get out of the comfortable ways of sin, but you come home to God. He was once just this dried up thing but with God your heart expands and it is filled with love for others and Him. When he talks about love being destructive, I think he's talking about the love of the world. When you love things of the world more than you love your Savior, your ego swells and you loose sight of what's going on. God's voice and persistence is the only thing to keep you going and will be the only thing to keep you strong in the world. His love is addictive for us and it fills us with the Spirit...when He speaks to you, it's soft but strong. That fire for God gets bigger and we realize that we need to put the right king on the throne...truly worship God and not things of the world. This is a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics...Yea God!
"Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." -John 15:13
I think this song is pretty straight-forward, its talking about God's love, and what it does in your life. The chorus: "I thought about fire in the sky" I think that's saying that he knows that God's up there, and He's looking down, and that He loves us, the verses are saying how your love for God will destory your life if you totally cosumed by Him, but what I beautiful thing it is!
This song just flat-out rocks.
most likely about a mystical experience of God's love...if you like these lyrics you should try reading some thomas merton
This song is a great metaphor for thinking of God's love. It is a fire that longs to consume you entirely and it will spread to every part of your life if you let it. The line about love being destructive to the ego is about how you will be humble before God. If you can't see this, then you haven't seen them live where Christian taps his heart and points to the sky for the entire song and you are blind.
this song is amazing. if you have seen blindside live, and see them perform this song, you will definately have your own personal time of reflection of when and how God brought you through everything.
I think think this song can be taken two ways...the way Aeroin has interpreted it and also the way Whitedays has.
Sometimes ambiguity leaves something for everyone
i went to their concert this was the last song they sang i screamed the lyrics to it the whole time i couldnt talk in the morning but it was worth it
Blindside new album "great depression" released Aug 2nd
what better way to describe the presence of God than fire in the sky. So destructive, yet its love that burns.... pretty incredible imagery there
blindsides tour b4 last... 2004, I went to like 3 stops on their tour and Christian talked about the song at every place i went.
he said its about basically that fire God gave us that love so amazing, that feeling. he also talked about this song and relating it to how you gotta fix the stuff on the inside, then work your way out. _peace.
