Blindside is such a great band...the way they incorporate their faith into everything they do...it's awesome to me! I think this song is about God in His Shekinah Glory...he appeard to Moses as a burning bush in Exodus and I think that might be what he's referring to concerning the fire. I think the first verse talks about how God's love comes at the right time and when that comes all the things of the world lose their meaning. Though it's painful to give up the ways you used to live, it's a beautiful thing to be able to serve God with your life. He then goes on to say that "There is no peace inside if there's nothing within"...there is no peace in any man if the Holy Spirit doesn't dwell within you. It hurts to get out of the comfortable ways of sin, but you come home to God. He was once just this dried up thing but with God your heart expands and it is filled with love for others and Him. When he talks about love being destructive, I think he's talking about the love of the world. When you love things of the world more than you love your Savior, your ego swells and you loose sight of what's going on. God's voice and persistence is the only thing to keep you going and will be the only thing to keep you strong in the world. His love is addictive for us and it fills us with the Spirit...when He speaks to you, it's soft but strong. That fire for God gets bigger and we realize that we need to put the right king on the throne...truly worship God and not things of the world. This is a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics...Yea God!
