Birds Of A Feather Lyrics
By the nape of my neck, you can hand me down.
To forge a little more in the quiet that we found.
So just to say anything, you say that you love me.
Only so much time you can waste on me, there's only so much time you can waste on me.
And sometimes I believe in God punishing for lack of faith, so just to say anything I say that I love you too.
Only so much time, you can waste on me, there's only so much time you can waste on me.
You feel fat and I feel ugly.
Together we don't like anybody.
I feel sick cuz I know your gonna run, but I cant blame you.

I think it’s about being in a relationship but not really loving each other. Just using the other to feel less lonely. But what comes with that is fear of one or the other leaving without a care. But from the perspective of the singer, they've formed an attachment to them, even if it’s not love. They’ve shared each other’s insecurities and secrets with each other, and it will all feel like time wasted when they part.
Birds Of A Feather refers to the proverb “Birds of a feather flock together”, meaning people of similar qualities tend to stick together. Here KOLS applies that phrase to a strained relationship. I don’t know how this will be perceived by fans of this genre of music, but if you are after a more accessible/alternative interpretation of that proverb in music, Billie Eilish’s song of the same title does a pretty good job.
The beginning lines of both verses allude to a kind of unequal power dynamic, “by the name of my neck…” referring to the singer being handled like an animal, “sometimes I believe in god,,,” referring to fear as a factor in loyalty/faith.
Though empty words are exchanged in this relationship, there is a kind of substance between the two characters, shown in the outro verse. The two are bound by their insecurities, but inevitably time will separate them.
Audio systems are wasted on people who aren’t listening to this song…
This song is really something.. I think it means about how you find someone and you like them, but you're not sure if they like you, and how it could really work out to the best... but only if she'd let it work out
This is mine and my girlfriends song. we make love.
correction we make love to this song
i like these lines, "I feel sick cuz I know your gonna run, but I cant blame you." this band is awesome!
the opening lyrics written here are all wrong, he actually starts off the song with "I live with my Mexican hand me downs" because the lead singer of KOLS is 75% hispanic and he was writing about how there was only so much time his hard working parents could spend with him
@MrBigThought i know this is from 23 years ago, but you must be high my man

Uh. Are you guys frickin retarded. I mean c'mon. this song is in reference to John F. Kennedy's reaction to Cuba's course of action in the late 60's. "You feel fat, and i feel ugly", this is reference to Jackie O's bulemic problem and John F's depression. "i feel sick cuz i know you're gonna run" is in reference to America's fear and John fear of it's citezens fleeing the country for fear of attack.
