The world you painted was new
The colors were so alive
Took a lie and made it true
A final touch and then right into the painting you dive
It's ok if you break
You'll see colors again
This is more than you can take
You'll see colors again
It's your life that's at stake
You'll see colors again
Don't you think it's my time, anytime soon
Whenever did it all happen
That one color after another seems to fade
Now the sky is carved with a coal pen
It's all gray despite the effort you made
How do you like your god now
Now that he is you
Does he feel dead somehow
And where does that leave you
It's ok if you break
You'll see colors again
This is more than you can take
You'll see colors again
It's your life that's at stake
You'll see colors again
Don't you think it's my time, anytime soon
What if I let you fly out of here would you still deny?
The colors were so alive
Took a lie and made it true
A final touch and then right into the painting you dive
You'll see colors again
This is more than you can take
You'll see colors again
It's your life that's at stake
You'll see colors again
Don't you think it's my time, anytime soon
That one color after another seems to fade
Now the sky is carved with a coal pen
It's all gray despite the effort you made
Now that he is you
Does he feel dead somehow
And where does that leave you
You'll see colors again
This is more than you can take
You'll see colors again
It's your life that's at stake
You'll see colors again
Don't you think it's my time, anytime soon

grins shoutout for posting these lyrics, i've wanted them for the longest time. this is (IMHO) the most beautiful song off the silence album. it captures this portrait of a person, girl perhaps, who tries to take the weight of the world solely on her shoulders. but this person, this savior, is telling her "its okay if you break." such sweet melancholy. that first verse especially rips at my heart. gawd, how emo did that sound?
amazing.. need i say more!
i love this song
silence is such a great cd
there are just...no....words....just a tear runnin down the cheek. i think that says it all. i love blindside so freakin much...
This song is very beautiful. Blindside is great at molding chaos with beauty. The melody of the chorus is lovely and the looped lines at the end are amazing. Ever since Nothing But Skin I've realized that Christian has an amazing vocal range. I'm so tempted to call this their "emo" song... but I'm sure the Texas is the Reason and Mineral would turn over in their grave if I did. (I can't help it though...)
I see this song as being about someone trying to build worlds of their own... it's God talking to them about what they're trying to do and what they keep trying a failing to do and 'don't you think it's My time anythime soon?' it also has the hope in there as well which is important because it shows that through all the stuff ups we do, God knows what's happening and there is a hope, a light at the end of the tunnel. :) Jah bless! Kiz
This song makes me wanna paint... lol I love the chorus, this song is really moving but arent all of Blindside's songs like that?
Hey, what about the distorted singing towards the end? Does he sing "what if I let you fly out of here, would you still deny..." ?
this song is so great.
great song, great band, great lyrics in many of their songs, Silence was a great album, my fave of all Blindside albums.
This song speaks to me about designing your own life and how you want it to be, and then attempting what you've set out to do. You will most likely fail many times when attempting to do anything, but it's part of the learning process and you just have to get back to the big picture you're painting for yourself....It's your life you have to.
When things aren't going the way you planned, little by little the failed attempts at anything will add up and you will start to see the world in a different light. Maybe you start to question your higher power if you have one and that can affect how you see yourself.
Nice interpretation. I am painting the last room in the house today and wanted something that was uplifting (other than Ying Yang Twins and Banner ;). Every life goes through cycles...black to gray to pink to flaming reds and oranges! Life is what we make of it; it's definitely not fair, but how we handle what God tosses our way is what helps the color wheel to turn...
