There's something with the way you walk
There's something there that lights a spark inside of me
And it makes me want to sing
Makes me forget everything
There's something there inside your eyes
Lets me know you'd never lie
You fill me up and I know what you need
Do you know what you mean to me?

Well I watch you sleep sometimes and it feels like the first time
And you're always on my mind
Everyday is like the first day
And I talk to you sometimes even though you never talk back
And I buy you things sometimes 'cause I don't mind

There's something strange, I can't get mad
Even when you're being bad - just look at me, and I forget everything
I try but I can't be mean
You sit by me and I scratch your back
You lick my hands then I get a rash, but that's okay
Because we, we are a team
You make a mess and then I clean

Well I watch you sleep sometimes and it feels like the first time
And you're always on my mind
Everyday is like the first day
And I talk to you sometimes even though you never talk back
And I buy you things sometimes 'cause I don't mind

There's something with the way you act
Makes me laugh when you chase the cats
You chase 'em around
And when it's close to feeding time, you stare at me and whine
You won't lay down, you'll hardly sit
I give you a bath when you smell like shit
But you don't mind
And we go out every now and then
And when you're done then we come back in

Well I watch you sleep sometimes and it feels like the first time
And you're always on my mind
Everyday is like the first day
And I talk to you sometimes even though you never talk back
And I buy you things sometimes 'cause I don't mind
Yeah I don't mind
Yeah I don't mind

i thought this was like the nicest song ever for ages

then i sent the lyrics to my sister, who told me it was about a dog, then i listened to the song again and it made a hell of alot more sense

plus the barking at the end gives it away a little

wait.. he sings about cats and "when you smell like shit" and people still thought it was about a guy/girl?

    thats great.

the chorus is still applicable to a relationship though. and kinda sweet... which is kinda twisted... which makes this a great song.

Wow...I realized it was about a dog in a few days when I finally understood everything they were saying. At first though, I could only understand the chorus (Well I watch you sleep sometimes and it feels like the first time And you're always on my mind Everyday is like the first day And I talk to you sometimes even though you never talk back And I buy you things sometimes 'cause I don't mind) And I thought the song was hilarious because I thought they were making fun of stalkers. Then I understood with (You lick my hands then I get a rash) and (I give you a bath when you smell like shit) that it was about a dog. I was a bit disappointed, but I still like the song. As much as I love this band though, I wish their lyrics were less obvious so it would be worth it to interpret them. There isn't really anything in any song to interpret as far as meanings go.

    My Opinion

i think he's pointing out how little the typical love songs actually mean... you could sing them to your dog and mean much the same thing.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
