| Moi Caprice – To the Lighthouse Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Jeg har ikke læst Virginia Woolfs bog "to the lighthouse", men det ville passe fantastisk ind at moi caprice referede til hende. | |
| Morrissey – One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It says: And when I die, I want to go to hell. | |
| Ben Folds – Cologne Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I just wanted to point out that i think the astronaut (lisa nowak) actually wanted to kill her ex husbands new girlfriend. | |
| Ben Folds – The Frown Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Or do you remember how we managed before? We could afford regular nervous breakdowns The question mark should be a line further down - that'd make sense. |
|
| Moi Caprice – Someone Spent His Life With Her Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Bare til info, så er jeg ret sikker på, at vi taler om Claudia Cardinale (født 15. april 1938, Tunesien). Henry må være Henry Fonda, og den filmen han omtaler "Once Upon I Time In The West". | |
| The Ark – One of Us Is Gonna Die Young Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
sisinki, too me it sounds like HIV too. The "It's in your blood but it's not in mine, what's in your blood is in my mind", could easily be his way of saying that though this friend is infected with the virus it could have been him as well, and they are still the same anyway. Also the line "Let's get on with the show" could be a tribute to Freddie Mercury's "the Show must go on" and a reference to his death. No matter what it seems pretty clear that the one who's gonna die young isn't the singer but a the other one. I've never read the lyrics before now and I have also just listened half to it and always thought it was about "carpe diem" and "live fast, die young", but I don't think so anymore. |
|
| Placebo – Days Before You Came Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I just cannot agree with the "visit of his father" theory. It is like you have a theory jubarbosa and then try to make the song fit it, instead of the other way around. | |
| HIM – Your Sweet Six Six Six Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Actually this part of "I Love You" shows the resemblance better: And you're in my heart, my darling The closer I get The more you're out of love Don't you feel it The colder your touch The more it turns me on And the faster beats my heart And baby more I love you |
|
| HIM – Your Sweet Six Six Six Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I agree with HIM's lyrics being simple, but to me it doesn't matter that much. If you just listen to a couple of different bands, what does it matter that some of them focus more on other things than the lyrics. To me HIM isn't a band I listen to if I want to challenge myself musically, but it doesn't matter, because then again there will be other times when their music appeals to me. HIM is a band with a great image and easy and lovable music, which creates a great atmosphere. Concerning the lyrics, they somehow reminds me of the "I love you"-lyrics: Can't you see my darling That the harder I try The more we grow apart Please believe me The sweeter the kiss The colder turn your arms And the colder grows your heart And baby more I love you In a way it is the same, the relationship is twisted because one of the parts gets more obsessed with the other, when they are rejected. I believe this is the same - the distance between them is growing, but it only makes protagonist long for his lover and wanting to take all the hate and hurt (666) into his heart, because in the end the hurt is really what he wants. (sado-masochistic beast ;-) ) |

| eirenightshade - Please, not rock start, POP STAR ;-) | |
| The White Stripes – The Nurse Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Olive, because you obviously know this. | |
| The White Stripes – Little Ghost Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Well, i think, as only one person pointed out before me, that it is about being more in love with someone, than they are with you. It's like to him it's a relationship, but to her perhaps only sex or even something less. He interprets her actions as affection - "left the room discretly, no one else could know the secret of our love". The part about "it must have looked like i was dancing with the wall" is him noticing that she doesn't care about him, and being embarrased because he has hinted a relationship and everybody except himself has known that it was really nothing. | |
| David Bowie – Thursday's Child Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Just wanted to add the nursery rhyme Monday's child is fair of face. Tuesday's child is full of grace. Wednesday's child is full of woe. Thursday's child has far to go. Friday's child is loving and giving. Saturday's child works hard for a living, But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day Is bonny and blithe and good and gay. Btw, I think bowie's born a wednesday. But in a way it would make sense, when he says: monday, tuesday, wednesday - born i was, thursday's child. Or wednesday - born, i was thursday's child. Sorry if this has been said or the facts are wrong, haven't got time to check it right now. |

| The Ting Tings – That's Not My Name Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Farlda - I do not agree. It is easy to be forgotten though you are cheep. Like, you can sleep around with a lot of people, and never ever meet them again. I think she forgets their names too. | |
| Placebo – You Don't Care About Us Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i totally understand onlyathursday. I had the same experience. I had had the cd for ages and then one day driving and listening to it, it suddenly occured to me that it was about a relationship. I had always seen it as some kind of teenage-riot athem something. But I guess that how it is getting older. Funny though, how young people tend to interpret it that way. | |
| Darren Hayes – Like It Or Not Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
EagleGod1 (great name;-)) I've always seen it the way that he is visiting this ex-lover og -friend in Australia and the thing with canceling the plain to America means he stays, or that he should be going to America and decides to cancel that plain and visit the person instead. Maybe not to get the relationship going again, but because he cannot help it, and just want to see her/him. And because he miss the person so much, he says he's going to visit, whether they like it or not. I've always imagined him in the airport and the plain on his way and in the end standing at the doorway ringing the bell and holding his breath hoping for the best. In a way this song actually kinda reminds me of "Don't Know You Anymore". |
|
| Darren Hayes – The Tuning of Violins Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Generally I think Darren's lyrics are pretty easy to understand and don't really need interpretations. Or, so they have been since Savage Gardens debut album. It's fine with me though, some of the lyrics of Tensin And The Spark are really touching though they are simple. I hate the way this song starts. The plane that takes off. |
|
| Darren Hayes – Neverland Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
ha ha, i always thought he said the "pink" colours run. Still i don't get the part with the colours running? |
|
| Darren Hayes – Ride Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| So very gay. I love it. | |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Shame Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The danish wikipedia says that this was written about Michael Hutchence from INXS. And it was simply a short poem about what Corgan would have told him. Kinda fits with the "hello, goodbye..." part. And drunken love. And walking alone. |
|
| David Bowie – Heroes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| aphekqs - perhaps you've heard a single version? I have a best of bowie album where it is a bit different. I think it starts with the "i, i wish i could swim".. | |
| Savage Garden – This Side Of Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Oh my god. This is my fav. song ever. Why haven't more people written. This is so clearly about a homosexual relationsship, and actually that's why I write today. I just want to congratulate Darren, I love him so much more for finally telling us all what we allready knew and getting married to the man he loves. | |
| Skunk Anansie – Infidelity Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| MapleLeaf, I think you're right half the way, but isn't it more like she offers herself to the other girl who doesn't want her. Perhaps because she's raised to be straight? | |
| Skunk Anansie – We Love Your Apathy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| that would make perfectly sense | |
| Björk – Nu Flyver Anton Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Here is the translation, if somebody wants it. Since the Danish word order is different from the English, it might seem wrong to people who aren’t Danish, but I believe it to be right. __________________________________________________ Anton flies now All by himself What do you think Anton? Will the dreams come true? He flies through the sky And the sky hangs Like a collar Around his neck It is so black and very dark Between sun and moon Then he pisses on the darkness And the darkness Turns into light Anton flies now Then he got his first kiss His first kiss! With the tongue! The tongue… went like.. A propeller, woah! Ooh, Anton flies now… ________________________________________________ Anton is by the way a name, if it isn’t international. And the part where he “pisses on the darkness” is of course figuratively spoken. Propeller is another word for airscrew- I’d like to try that kiss…. |
|
| Björk – Nu Flyver Anton Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I've seen these lyrics everywhere, but is it really true that it is "mørkret"? I seems to me that it should på "mørket" which means darkness in danish. I could translate it if anybody is interested. | |
| Darren Hayes – Where You Want To Be Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Hey there stranger Do you remember? You were a part of my life Early December Think I remember? Sentiment cuts like a knife The seasons are changing Life's rearranging Full of could've dones Would've beens It's all your fault And where have you been And how time goes And now I dont even know How to fill in the spaces of the love you erased in my life Are you where you want to be? Did you get there easily? Did they make you sacrifice? Did you make a sharp left When you should've turned right? Are you where you want to be? Did you sell off all of your gold Did you trade it in? Did you wait for love Or settle for somebody to hold? And barely symphonic But strangely ironic Moments contained in one glance Oh how I adored you But now I'm ignored by you No evidence of romance And now it's vaguely familiar I think I remember sharing every single intimacy It doesn't seem so strange to me that we barely entertained Even the politest of phrases But sometimes at night I conjure you up in my mind Are you where you want to be? Did you get there easily? Did they make you sacrifice? Did you make a sharp left When you should've turned right? Are you where you want to be? Did you sell off all of your gold Did you trade it in? Did you wait for love Or settle for somebody to hold? While I was busy Perfecting the art Of deflecting compliments I took it too far And I let a ripple run right through my heart Of battle stations we're building You and I just grew apart We grow apart While I decided To make everyone else happy I just put aside My foolish pride I guess I denied My own desire I was too busy pleasing To ever be pleased I forgot how to breathe Or question anything Or ask why? Am I? Am I where I want to be? Did I get here easily? Did I make a sacrifice? Did I take a sharp left When I should've turned right? Am I where I want to be? Can I sell of all of my gold? Can I trade it in? Will I wait for Love Or settle for somebody to hold I'd settle for somebody to hold now You know that I've been up and I've been down I've been picked up and spun around I'd do it all again If I could just have somebody to hold now I just need somebody to hold me now Could somebody hold me now? I just want somebody to hold me now I'd do it all again this is how i think they are, though you might be right when you say he sings "wanted" and not "want".... |
|
| Darren Hayes – Where You Want To Be Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don't think the lyrics are right. | |
| Darren Hayes – The Heart Wants What It Wants Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the song is about falling for a person you are not supposed to fall in love with. Maybe a friend or a person to whom, you are nothing but someone to have sex with. | |
| Darren Hayes – Love and Attraction Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I feel like both of you, and I guess this is why I love this song as well. I love that Darren sings about loving someone that doesn't want you, not just love that's gone wrong. The line "Are you a friend or a lover, Now pick one or the other" makes so much sense. If you've ever tried to love a friend so much that you couldn't tell the difference from love and attraction, you will understand this. Sadly how love can break and attraction can break friendships. | |
| Darren Hayes – Hero Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I agree though Darren himself said it wasn't about being famous, but about loving someone so much that you don't see their mistakes | |
| Darren Hayes – Boy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I just think that darren once again tells us how we're trying to be like everybody else because we are raised to it. And it seems obvious that he is singing about how people tell him off for feeling too much and not being a "man". | |
| Marilyn Manson – Dead God Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Please, This is (again) Tim Skold. Listen and you will definetely hear that it isn't manson. | |
| Marilyn Manson – Don't Pray For Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Again and again. This is Tim Skold for fuck's sake. Please be fair to him and Manson and delete this. I like it too, but write about it in Skold's name please... Nodoby posts on him. | |
| Marilyn Manson – Food Pyramid Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| clone high, yes. Check it out at youtube.com. It's cool. Love it | |
| Marilyn Manson – I Hate (Demo) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I agree with Nitendofann11, this isn't fair for Manson and SKold | |
| Marilyn Manson – The KKK Took My Baby Away (Ramones cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| oh my, I thought it were The Misfits.... have they done a cover too? | |
| Marilyn Manson – The Point Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Just look Skold up here at songmeanings.net, sadly nobody posts on him. | |
| Marilyn Manson – User Friendly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Oh, god... how can so many people take the song litterally. It's obvious that manson's (once again) telling us all how hollow and selfish we are... I guess he's right though, when I look at the comments. | |
| Marilyn Manson – Wrapped In Plastic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "Consecrated", I agree. First I wondered why there were only 9 comments, but obviously, the song is pretty summed up by now. And yes, this song is touching, to me it's the part where manson sings "come into our home/wont you stay/i know the steak is cold/but it's wrapped in plastic", it's so emotional and hopeless. | |
| The Used – Buried Myself Alive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love it, and love the video too... It fits so well. I love how Quinn is trapped:D I'm just always feeling bad because Bert is using all the oxygen to the flame in the coffin. | |
| David Bowie – Rebel Rebel Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don't really care if my idols are gay, but I don't understand how you can say it isn't importnat. Obviously some of the songs about sexually so of course it matters when you interpret the song. Sorry about the english, I'm doing my best. | |
| David Bowie – The Bewlay Brothers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
why doesn't anyone post on bowie? I love this song, i just don't really get it- unfortunately. I might spend some more time translating it, but it guess it wont help much. About the underworld of drugs and perverted sex- i don't think it would be past tense if it was about that. The album is (as far as i remember) from 1971. I thought it was about being different and trying to rebel, and when you weren't alone it was a easier. It micht be about love too. I don't know |
|
| My Chemical Romance – I Never Told You What I Do For A Living (Demo) (Life On The Murder Scene) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| much better, but still i don't agree on the "I put the dead bodies in every day" it's impossible to hear what that motherfucker's saying | |
| KoЯn – Politics Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| the worst thing about that fucking album is that i don't know how to get it on my ipod | |
| KoЯn – Hey Daddy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| ha, i guess my mind is bizarre since i thought that this one too was about gay sex | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Gravity Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the thing about alcoholism is more correct than the bulimic thing. You can puke from alcohol too.. The thing about drunk driving and car crashing makes sense too.. Whoever said it was about anorexia and alcoholism is wrong, those two things doesn't fit. If you're anoretic you don't drink. | |
| My Chemical Romance – Give 'Em Hell Kid Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
1m_n0t_0kaY - I think they say "we're out", but i'm not sure... What do you guys think gerard says before "We are, made from the sharpest things you’d say." Because i've always thought he said "my saviour, made from the sharpest things you'd say". Your explanation makes sense, but then it sounds like he's saying "my say we are...." |
|
| My Chemical Romance – I Never Told You What I Do For A Living (Demo) (Life On The Murder Scene) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don’t agree with these lyrics at all… unfortunately. But I have idea what else he might say. Except for every time you write “lie” I’m almost sure it’s “life”. To me it doesn’t sound like he’s saying “your love is comforting me up at this” and “I did my all motherfuckin vein , almost every day”. Anyway thanks for uploading the lyrics, I’ve been looking for them for ages. | |
| My Chemical Romance – You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| when you hear this song live on life on the murder scene, it's obvious that gerard sings something that is not "they make you want to say" | |
