Neverland Lyrics
Long ago when Mercury descended high on the moon.
Far below where little hands are making shapes in the room.
The shadows they dance and they cheer up this place.
The face that's staring through a tiny crack in the door.
Eyes so wide he's never seen a woman fall on the floor.
I swear daddy's killed her this time.
Should I make a rocket?
Should I try to fly away?
Should I make a hammer?
Should I try to smash his face?
Should I make a bullet?
Should I try to shoot the gun?
I'm sure the judge will let me off real soon.
Long ago when Saturn tried to find a way past the sun.
Deep inside a little boy is turning pain into fun.
The pencils the crayons the paint colours run.
The plans are forming slowly made with scissors with glue.
Eyes so wide he's telling mummy all the things he can do.
He'll sketch a contraption to save them for sure.
He can draw an alien.
He can come and take them home.
He can draw a cartoon.
He can draw a safety hatch.
He can draw a hot bath.
He can plug a toaster in and wait 'til daddy's nice and warm
And toss it in.
And then when he's gone there's a Neverland of fun.
Take a loaded gun.
Take a shot of rum.
Take a poison rat.
There's a lesson in that.
No more closing fists.
No more face to hit.
No more bloody nose or apologetic roses.

Darren Hayes's child hood was brought up with a lot of anger and frustration as his father was (Believe still is.) an abusive alcoholic. So in reality if a child kills their relative that abuses the family, should they really go to prison for defence??? Thank you. Your regards, Myriam. HUGS
It's about the little boy, maybe Darren, wanting to save him and his mum from his dad. Maybe even killing him. (He can draw a hot bath- He can plug a toaster in, And wait till daddy's nice and warm- Toss it in.)
about his father. the end.
about his father. the end.
I think this song is a about a little boy, who is like some children is a witness to his mother being beaten by his father every night. Also I think it's about how much the boy wants to stop his mother being hurt and if he could what he would do to stop his father, using his imagination.
The song is about Darren when he was a little boy, I guess the domestic abuse in his family while growing up is fairly well documented by now. The rest has been said!
This is one of the most disturbing songs I've ever heard, and my heart just bled for that little boy that was Darren. No kid should ever be driven to thinking such thoughts.
It is about Darren's childhood, and his abusive father. I can't imagine his pain cause I never went through anything like this; however the song is a bit too disturbing for me too. I congratulate Darren, though, to be brave enough to expose himself like this.
ha ha, i always thought he said the "pink" colours run.
Still i don't get the part with the colours running?
I think he might be refering to metaphor relating to blood! The blood of his mother maybe, for he says further in the song "No more bloody nose or apologetic roses."....Just a thought =)

i think i remember hearing something about darren actually having a dream about this, therefore creating a song from it, sheer genius.
A very scary song. It almost makes me want to cry when I hear it.
This song was great comfort to me when I was going through watching one of my best friends being abused and fearing for her safety at the hands of her mother's alcoholic boyfriend. My thoughts were surprisingly similar. Watching someone you care for or love crying every day because they couldn't be safe in their own home, and because they were helpless to do anything about it... I definitely considered smashing his face.
