ive heard the boy who died that kelly knew, killed himself in flint, which is in north east wales, about 10 minutes from the english border...kind of weird considering kelly was from south wales valleys, though i guess relocation could be an explanation. id also say that if this is the case, then the idea that this lad asked kelly the train times was bullshit as i doubt kelly would know the train times up in flint haha. still, great song. and yeah, definitely none of these stories are made up are they? over the last year, the teenage suicide count in bridgend, south wales, alone is over 20 i think. always on the news. |

i have to say i disagree with you lewi15. kelly although a great lyricist and phenomenal singer probably wouldnt have meant it to have much of a metaphorical sense. he just described what he knew, especially on the first couple of stereophonics albums, and this is why i love his style. he paints the pictures so well. you have good insight though, fair play, but i just dont think that was kelly's style. |

greenleaf has it. i also suffer from sleep paralysis, hypnogogic. during REM sleep (when you have dreams) the body is paralysed to avoid it from making the movements in your dreams, yet this can happen whilst you are still awake. i dont get the "old hag" or "death kneeling on my chest" hallcinations but am aware that i am entering sleep, unable to move. i can however, pry myself from this though it takes a lot of effort. the drowning he speaks of in the song is clearly related to this. |
