Another Day in Quicksand Lyrics
The other side of the platinum door
another day in quicksand
Still feel close to nowhere
I hope this is the right way
How come you see me as an enemy?
We just think in different words
I see beauty in dead flowers
I let the tide show me what's next
But all you do is fade away
There's no shame in being the fool
I've been to places you'll never find
The empty plate that you call home
Won't bring glimmer to future year
By myself, staring into space
You're just bored of the silence it makes
another day in quicksand
Still feel close to nowhere
I hope this is the right way
We just think in different words
I let the tide show me what's next
But all you do is fade away
I've been to places you'll never find
The empty plate that you call home
Won't bring glimmer to future year
You're just bored of the silence it makes

This song is about how people think they have all the answers and won't bother to appreciate others viewpoints. (other side of the platinum door) Sometimes you have to actually have the experiences in life to fully understand things. (empty plate you call home) Nobody's perfect. Also, people worry about rationalizing everything, when we should just let go and love life for what it is. (another day in quicksand)
I Agree With asadcw, Life is for living, not for hating, I also this this song is about loving life for what it is, not expanding in greed, today, human kind has gotton so greedy, it's killing this world, Human-Kind=Hate We must stop this greed somehow
This isn't really a memorable song, but it is a simple one to analyze. It's all about the sight, sounds and experiences many of us are missing in the constant rush for achievment and supremecy.
The best line, in my opinion, is: "Why do you see me as an enemy?" It seems to sum the message up, in a sense. We're the same race, we just think different, yet those who think differently are considered strange, when maybe they should be considered gifted.
all of the above is true, single handedly most morally correct song on the album
To me this song means of how everyone acts different and they're against each other even though they have different ways of thinking. It's kinda meant for conformists is what I think.
Clayman is BEST album EVER to me (not only from in flames albums, from all of the albums in the world i've heard).
My opinion is quite simmilar to these stated above, here it is:
This song is about someone who are out of "normal" society border line (platinum door). Once you are thrown out, you will never come back as normal, and you can only observe 'platinum' door from distance, spending your days in quicksand. This is because if someone becomes an enemy to you and he/she is considered as normal in our world, you will get labeled as 'not normal' soon...
You can not understand why everybody hates you then, but it is working like quicksand, if you get pulled in, you will drown faster and faster every day and no-one will bring you back throught platinum door ("How come you see me as an enemy? We just think in different words")
Your thoughts or actions or point of view are ignored then and only thing what is left to you is to accept your fate. ("There's no shame in being the fool I've been to places you'll never find ")
My favourite part is: "By myself, staring into space You're just bored of the silence it makes"
In this world, very few people understand what is tolerance these times, everybody is focused on how to survive in the platinum chamber instead of doing what they want. When you are out of this chamber, you realize there is more things you never found earlier ("staring into space", "beuty in dead flowers")...
I dont know if that made any sense at all, but i have so much to comment that i don't know what to comment at all...
This song is a good one, and i concur with whoever said it above. in flames does rule, and this is an excellent album. good stuff
dest is right, i think
quite possibly the best solo ever
or not
