Would be interesting to see if the band sounds half as tight live as they do on cd. I'm betting they dont being that they are crazy live and apparently jump around on trampolines and stuff. Fun to watch but doesnt help the musical performance of the songs. Sounds like there's a lot of studio "help" on the disc too (can you say "pro tools?"). They should put out a live DVD (with no overdubs) so we can see what they really sound like. They still floor me though. Haven't been floored like that since discovering Dream Theater 14 yrs ago!! |

Yes kick ass instrumental indeed. But it is not SO fast that its impossible. I can actually play it and I've seen a few other players pull it off really well too. If you want "so fast that its impossible to play" go listen to Michael Angelo Batio. Never seen or heard anyone play like him. |

Zakk is definitely the best Ozzy guitarist ever. Randy was good, but just because he's dead doesnt mean he's the be all end all. I fucking hate it when people hump a guys leg just because he's dead. I actually like Jake E. Lee's playing better than Randy too, though I do love Randy and think he was more of an influence on other guitar players. He just wasn't the best Ozzy had. |

I doubt Zakk Wylde wrote the lyrics. I dont think back then (when he was 19) or even to this DAY he thinks he has an alcohol problem even though its quite obvious he does. This song is about someone who knows they have a problem and have tried to quit but just cant. "Crazy Babies" is just a metaphor used to talk about rebellion when you're growing up as a teen. I think the "WALK THAT WALK, TALK THAT TALK" parts make that quite obvious, but here's a few more obvious lines that prove that point - "WHEN THEY WERE BORN THEY WERE BORN TO BE WILD"

Sounds like a song about people who talk the talk because they think thats what people wanna hear, but they're too chicken or too weak to walk the walk to actually back it up. Sort of like living your life like you think society or certain people think you should live your life, even though its not really how you wanna be living. Anyone else?
And yeah this tune and whole ALBUM kicks ass - why does Ozzy NEVER play anything off of it??? I saw him on the No More Tears Tour which was the album after this one -No Rest For The Wicked, and even back then he played Miracle Man and that was it. Since then he doesnt even do that. No Rest For The Wicked is as good and personally to me better than No More Tears, which is a close second. But that one had all the ballads and shit on it so that gets all the play and kudos. Anyways... I'm blabbing now... sorry |

This is just a song about all of their influences growing up as kids and who inspired them to be musicians. It has nothing to do with what they went through during the period between Pyromania and Hysteria. No idea where that idea comes from.
The verses make several song/band references. I interpret the chorus to be a metaphor for their love of that music and how it inspired them. |

I first heard this when Def Lep played it on MTV Video awards in 88 or 89. It was cool because it was an unknown song at the time (this was before it was released on the following Adrenalize album). I think they were just tired of playing all of the monster Hysteria hits and wanted to offer up something new. I believe it was also the last televised performance with Steve Clark. |

This is another great Def Lep ballad, but they didn't write this song. Some outside songwriters wrote it and the song was presented to the band while they were doing the album, and they loved it and wanted to record it even though they didnt write it. I dont have the cd with me, but the names of the songwriters are listed in the cd booklet by the songtitle.

thats right, the tradition of using beginning/ending sounds linking each album didn't start until Metropolis 2: Scenes From A Memory, which was DTs what - 4th or 5th album? Anyways, that cycle is now broken with Octavarium being that they used the "everything goes in cycles" theme on that album and ended the album the way it starts - with the same note/sound. Because of that Mike Portnoy said that the tradition of linking each album's ending note/chord/sound effect to the beginning of the next album's first note/chord/sound effect has now ended, and the next album will have a whole new beginning |

LedSkynard, Eddie does NOT use delay on this song "to make it sound so fast" You might be thinking of "Cathedral" where he uses delay to echo the notes and make it sound like a violin. Also, Eddie does not use many effects at all. He certainly didnt use any effects on this song to make it "sound fast" or anything. |

Its pretty obvious it has more to do with reflecting back on an earlier time in ones life and wishing life were like that again where things seemed simpler, as opposed to of all things - masterbation. Just because you read a story about masterbation and it had "rocking horse" in the title doesnt mean thats what this song is about. I think you're reading a little too much into the "Tossin and turning, thoughts keep churning" lyrics. The rocking horse represents youth and innocence, "a simpler time where nothing really mattered at all." NOT masterbation, ya sick perv. |

Its hard to tell because of the songs fade out, but I'm pretty sure that last line is just "Lord knows I'm tellin you." What you have here "Lord knows I pity you" makes NO sense in the context of the rest of the song. |

Its about a dog, but obviously written intentionally to sound like a girlfriend simply for the controversy. Hey Billion, the line: "She bitched so much"= A dog that is very sick or injured and needs to be put to sleep.
Songwriters write songs this way intentionally to get a rise out of people. Just like how Sting wrote "Every Breath You Take" very carefully to almost make it sound romantic, and people dance to it at their weddings...but Sting laughs because the song is really about a STALKER! But I digress... |

There is a much more tragic meaning or inspiration behind this song. Bret Michaels says he wrote it for CC Deville, whom at the time had a girlfriend who ended up getting shot in the head and killed while out one night. The final line emphasizes this I believe, "And this last mile I travel with you" Makes me think of someone who passed on, more than someone who just gotten dumped. |
