I look at you and then I see your fire
And I'm thinking about desire
Yes, I'm thinking about desire
Telling me the things you try to hide
And I'm burning up inside
Oh how I'm burning up inside
When I think about the first time that I saw your face
I never felt this way
Oh lord no I never felt this way
And now I'm wishing that you feel the same
And if there's anyway
I'll get down on my knees and pray

You're like a burning flame
And I'll never be the same
No, I'll never be the same

What kind of fool am I
To want your body next to mine
I want your body next to mine
I need you any time
And I'm breaking down inside
Oh Lord I'm breaking down inside
You cover me with all your hopeless little fantasies
I never had before
No, I never had before
And now I'm living in my own reality
Cause of the things you did to me
Oh, the things you did to me

A very great song, sounds like it has something to do with a relationship of some kind to me, still trying to figure this one out though

I think its about him trying to cope with the pain while trying to save their relationship after she confessed cheating on him. The lyrics sum up exactly how I felt having dealt with this myself.

I look at you and then I see your fire And I'm thinking 'bout desire Yes I'm thinking 'bout desire

[Looking at her, he loves her and desires her]

Telling me things that you try to hide And I'm burning up inside Oh how I'm burning up inside

[She confesses she cheated on him but still wants to be with him and he finds himself burning with pain and anger]

When I think about the first time that I saw your face I never felt this way No I never felt this way

[He thinks back to when they first got together and remembers how it was only their love and he didn't feel this kind of pain with her]

And now I'm thinkin' that you feel the same

[He realizes that she too misses the time where things were better and all they felt was their love]

And I hope if there's anyway I'll get down on my knees and pray

[He would do almost anything to get back the love they lost and rebuild their relationship]

You're like a burnin' flame And I'll never be the same No I'll never be the same You're like a burnin' flame And I'll never be the same No I'll never be the same

[Dual Meaning: She lights his fire, shes hot, BUT she has also burned him badly with her infidelity, now he must carry the scars of this terrible event with him and it has changed him forever]

What kind of fool am I To want your body next to mine? I want your body next to mine

[He feels like a fool for continuing to want her after what she has done]

I need you anytime And I'm breaking down inside Oh lord I'm breaking down inside

[He feels he still needs her in his life and the pain is eating away at him, breaking him down inside]

You cover me with all your hopeless fantasies I never had before No I never had before

[She shares fantasies of being with both him and her lover at the same time. He is turned on by the fantasies but also finds them agonizingly painful, leaving him conflicted on whether he wants to act them out or not]

And now I'm living in my own reality 'cause of the things you did to me Oh the things you did to me

[After everything she has put him through its like his entire world has been turned on its side and its like he no longer knows up from down, right from left. Nothing makes sense anymore and he no longer knows whats real and whats not]

This is how I have interpreted the song and is also exactly what I myself have been through not long ago.

However we made it through and we are still together, and probably stronger for having survived that nightmare.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
