(Da Le) Yaleo Lyrics

Yo la vi cantando en Paris
Ella quiso estar junto de mi
Yo me sorprendi
Quando dijo Yaleo

Vamos caminando el ise
Tomando vino y partiendo pan
Ella dijo dame, dame ya YALEO YALEO

YALEO - YALEO - YALEO - YALEO
Tika n’gai wa yo
Simba n’gai wa yo yaya

Si tu pudieras, desir me ami
Yo no lo creo, lo que pasa aqui
Ella es mia, y me da su amor
Estoy complete y soy feliz
Ahora tengo nios que dicen Yaleo

I don't know Spanish - i listen to Santana mainly for the music, not the lyrics.

And damn good songs they are too...

Right on Bobo & Ianodublin, with Santana's songs you dont need to understand the lyrics, just enjoy the rythms!! Santana has alot of songs that have no lyrics at all, they are strictly instrumentals like Europa, Samba Pa Ti, African Bamba and many others, with Carlos' expertise on the guitar there is no need for lyrics, Carlos' guitar "speaks" the lyrics!

Does anyone know what 'yaleo' and 'ise' (or whatever it's meant to be... perhaps it's Belice?) mean? I understand the rest of the song, but when I went to look those two words up I couldn't find them.

Oops. Ignore that. I finally bought the CD and it is indeed el ise. embarrassed

what the hell does this song mean?

My rough English translation. I can't guarantee accuracy, but I think it works.

I saw her singing in Paris She wanted to be with me I was suprised When she said Yaleo

We went walking the ise (Isle?) Drinking wine and sharing bread And she said "Give me, give me YALEO YALEO already."

(Don't know this language, something African? I'm guessing whatever it is, it's also the source of the word "Yaleo", which isn't Spanish as far as I know.)

If you can, tell me. (Maybe "explain it to me"?) I don't believe it, that which happened here. She is mine, and she gives me her love I'm complete and I'm happy. Now I have children that say Yaleo.

"Da le Yaleo" I presume to be "Give her Yaleo", or more generally "Give Yaleo".

The last line should be "Ahora tengo niños que dicen Yaleo".

So I think the song is about some magical word that the singer doesn't really understand but he has a hot wife and kids and doesn't care. =o

@thelonetiel Hi! Since Carlos and the lady are in Paris, I am pretty sure that the place where they're walking is not "el ise" but rather "Elysee" - along the Champs d'Elysee, a famous avenue. This is truly a mixup song...Swahili, as noted by WhizBango, and of course Spanish, and one lone word in French! I also love this song. I think the record company needed their heads examined for not making (Da Le) Yaleo one of the main singles.

The chorus appears to be Swahilli, per Google Translate: Simba n'gai wa yo yaya -- The power and the one of them goes Tika n'gai wa yo -- Do not worry about it Yaleo -- Let's go
