Bag lady you gone hurt your back
Dragging all them bags like that
I guess nobody ever told you
All you must hold onto, is you, is you, is you

One day all them bags gon' get in your way
One day all them bags gon' get in your way
I said one day all them bags gon' get in your way
One day all them bags gon' get in your way, so pack light,
Pack light, mm, pack light, pack light, oh ooh

Bag lady you gon' miss your bus
You can't hurry up, 'cause you got too much stuff
When they see you coming, niggas take off running
From you it's true, oh yes they do

One day he gon' say you crowding my space
One day he gon' say you crowding my space
I said one day he gon' say you crowding my space
One day he gon' say you crowding my space so, pack light
Pack light, mm, pack light, pack light, ooh ooh

Girl I know, sometimes it's hard and we can't let go
Oh when someone hurts you oh so bad inside
You can't deny it you can't stop crying
So oh, oh, oh, if you start breathin' babe
You won't believe it, it feels so much better, so much better baby
Bag lady, let it go let it go let it go let it go oh
Girl you don't need it
Bet ya love could make it better
Bet ya love can make it better
Bet ya love can make it better, need someone to love you right
Bet ya love can make it better
Bet ya love I bet ya love I bet ya
Bet ya love can make it better, baby baby
Bet ya love can make it better
Bet ya love can make it better, hey hey
Bet ya love can make it better,
I bet ya love I bet you love
Bet ya love can make it better
I bet ya love I bet you love, oh oh oh (Bet ya love can make it better)
Bet ya love can make it better (oh oh oh oh)
Bet ya love can make it better
Bag lady, let it go let it go let it go let it go oh
Yeah you don't need it

she's telling women to let go of their baggage. i took it to be specifically baggage from relationships/men/etc... because of the "one day he gon say you crowdin my space" line. She repeats it 4 times, so it seems like a pretty important part of her message. She's saying if your hurt, admit it, think about it, solve it, cry it out, move on. Allow yourself to drop the anger/sadness/resentment/neediness/insecurities/distrust/cynicism that your broken heart is full of because it will weight you down and cause you to miss out on happiness. looooooooooooove this song. because it truly speaks to ALL women. (gucci bags, garbage bags, nickle bags, baby bags....)

Now, as for my own translation of these lyrics...

Ms. Badu tells us that in order to be free to have positive things in our lives, we must rid ourselves of the negative.

    Simple.

^thats just sayin people of all classes should relate to this song. let go of the things that hold you down and move on with life. "all you must hold on to is you"

I have just created an account for the SOLE purpose to address "crisis"... Your ghetto-style of written communication makes you appear to be uneducated and is difficult for anyone with an education to decipher. I'm all for educating the ignorant so the following is the proper way to have composed your thoughts so that the average adult can understand your thoughts:

"Yes, I agree completely with nsdj. The song is, basically, saying to forget all of the things from the past and look to the future!!! Like it said: "bag lady, you gone miss your bus; you cant hurry up cause you got too much stuff"

It's saying that if you carry on thinking about the past, you can never move forward to have a better future; hence, she misses the bus, she's missing a good future!!! People, keep this in mind. It's a good message that people should take in and think about."

It's still not quite grammatically correct but I thought maybe you shoiuld learn to spell first.

Don't insult yourself with such poor written communication. Drop the baggage of thinking you have to write like you were taught by morons to look cool. Ignorance and bad communication skills should be an embarassment.

This song means that you shouldn't live in the past because you will only be hurting yourself more and more in the end.

I generally agree with you, throwdown. I'd like to add tht for me this song is also about women who were hurt and then they try to compensate it with new clothes and generally material stuff. They seem to think they are more worth if they wear expensive clothes (gucci bag could be replaced with a grocery bag, she would still be a great, lovable woman. I do love Erykah, she's awsome. i'm waiting impatiently for her new album.

    I completely agree with Throwdown.

I think it's about a woman who has too much emotional baggage, and she is basically telling her to let go because if you hang on to it you are going to scare off any potential new relationships.

"Girl, I know sometimes it's hard and we can't let go Oh, when someone hurts you oh so bad inside You can't deny it, you can't stop crying".

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
