The Last Day On Earth Lyrics
Yesterday was a million years ago
In all my past lives I played an asshole
Now I found you, it's almost too late
And this earth seems obliviating
We are trembling in our crutches
High and dead our skin is glass
I'm so empty here without you
I crack my xerox hands
I know it's the last day on earth
We'll be together while the planet dies
I know it's the last day on earth
We'll never say goodbye
And the dogs slaughter each other softly
Love burns its casualties
We are damaged provider modules
Spill the seeds at our children's feet
I'm so empty here without you
I know they want me dead
I know it's the last day on earth
We'll be together while the planet dies
I know it's the last day on earth
We'll never say goodbye
In all my past lives I played an asshole
Now I found you, it's almost too late
And this earth seems obliviating
We are trembling in our crutches
High and dead our skin is glass
I'm so empty here without you
I crack my xerox hands
We'll be together while the planet dies
I know it's the last day on earth
We'll never say goodbye
Love burns its casualties
We are damaged provider modules
Spill the seeds at our children's feet
I'm so empty here without you
I know they want me dead
We'll be together while the planet dies
I know it's the last day on earth
We'll never say goodbye

I think that every SINGLE Manson song has a very, very thoughtful backround. He's not the stupid goth who yells 'kill kill kill' into the mic (what most people think). His songs are brilliant, they have a background and a menaning you just have to let yourself in so that you notice.
Haha are you serious? Kill Kill Kill..

Anyone who thinks that The Reflecting God doesn't have a deep and thoughtful "background" is a fucking idiot.

You're so right. Even when the meanings of the songs aren't clear, they're still so beautiful in their composition.

This is one of the view "love songs" manson has actually written...and even then it's not really a love song. I think it symbolizes the collapse of everything and prehaps two people who were seperated yet their love for eachother still holds true...and that no matter what may happen they'll always stay together even in spirit. This could be the meaning...but i have no idea. I think it also talks about the collapse of the one of the "lovers"....and how now that he's finally found his love his world is falling into a decadent spiral to which is will soon die... Maybe i'm wrong...that's just my opinion
Yes, i agree. "Yesterday was a million yrs ago" He misses what he had with that person and he cant bare being without it. "Last Day On Earth" is possibly exaggerating, the world is over now that hes without this woman. "We'll never say goodbye" is his way of saying he will never forget..

@RayvinFae I think the song itself is a concept. Yes he is conveying his feelings for someone, but he is using a scenario to show it. The scenario he uses ties in with the world of Mechanical Animals (the world the album speaks of is corrupt, so it is assumed that it will end). When the world finally ends. The two lovers are separated, but their love stays. So I would have to say that it has to do with the actual world ending and not his world ending. This would make sense because it would tie in to the rest of the album more easily. This track is the end of the album (story). And coma white is the prequel to mechanical animals.
Omega found the reincarnation on Coma White before he unwittingly causes The Disintegrator to destroy the earth
This is about the results of if the world were to end, the aftermath, how true love can survive and all the destruction that would be left in the wake.
Dude this is one of the hardest songs to find And it will always be my favorite Manson song Because it slow gothic & still has the Manson touth.
this is a song that makes you think "if you knew the world was ending tomorrow, who would you want to spend today with?." If you die with someone you never have to say goodbye to them, never wonder when you'll see them again. Everything over in an instant.
best song of his, i'm trying to learn it acoustically on the guitar and it always gets to the core of me. beautiful song about spending the last day on earth with your best friend/girlfriend.
"I'm so empty/here without you/I know they want me dead" I think its not such like the entire world is collapsing, just you. and I suppose you would want to spend it with someone you love
Beautiful song, like all Manson songs, this one has deep meaning and is very intelligent. I believe it's about the world collapsing and spending the last day with someone special who you didn't realize was so special to you until the day you died.
"He's not the stupid goth who yells 'kill kill kill' into the mic (what most people think)."
Manson isn't goth, he (along with a fair few moronic mansonites) has created the image of goth being about yelling kill kill kill into the microphone.
If you want goth listen to Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, The fields of Nephilim, The Cure, Alien Sex Fiend, The Mission UK, All About Eve, Cocteau twins, Christian Death, Andi Sexgang, Sexgang children, Bauhaus, The Cruxshadows and many many other (whom I really cannot be bothered to name.)
infact if you wanna see my point look up some cruxshadows lyrics to see real goth. (though admittedly they are darkwave, but that sorta comes under the whole goth thing.)
anyway, beautiful song which expresses a beautiful sentiment.
I've looked up Cruxshadow lyrics. They are not even figurative, let alone metaphoric. They are so direct, forced out of the writer's imagination with such painfully obvious efforts, it almost hurts to read them.

So much for Cruxshadow, really, with all due respect.
