I'm not a virgin anymore
I just thought you should know
Darlin' I've been around
Yeah, I've been up and down your block
In fact, I have been all over town
Down by the lake
And underneath the table in my living room
Outside by the blue blue moon
You can call me what you will
Call me a slut call me a jaded pill
But darlin', I've got your number now
I'm not a virgin anymore
I've been taken
I've been hung up
I get down and start it over again
I've been open
And I've been closed like a book
And burned down like a written sin
I just thought you should know, my darlin',
Before we begin
I'm not a virgin anymore
Just thought you should know
Before you let another lie
Go through those crooked little teeth
I don't think you want to start that shit with me
Much better yet
Tell me something dangerous and true
Oh yeah, that looks much sexier on you
Careful what it is you say
'Cause I can see right through you
On a cloudy day and
Darlin' I think you want to play
I'm not a virgin anymore
I've been taken
I've been hung up
I get down and start it over again
I've been open
And I've been closed like a book
And burned down like a written sin
So if you want to play dirty,
My darling, I'm gonna win
I'm not a virgin anymore
Been there done that
Say what?
Get the hang of it
Get screwed
I screw you I had a whole lot of fun with it
I've had enough now so you better take a bow
It's gonna be a new experience
if you want to play with me
Daisy chains and maryjanes
Fairy tales cannot fool me now
I just thought you should know.
Yeah Right.
Whatever!
I've been taken
I've been hung up
I get down and start it over again
I've been open
And I've been closed like a book
And burned down like a written sin
Hell, I've been divided
Out of my mind and reinvented again
I've been ignited and then uninvited
So honey, you break it up
I'm gonna put it back together again
I just thought you should know my darling
Before we begin
I'm not a virgin anymore
I just thought you should know
Darlin' I've been around
Yeah, I've been up and down your block

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
i like being scared. anyway, i think this song means that poe's no longer a virgin
also, nicoleinwonderland, if you think the album is scary, have you read the interrelated 'house of leaves'?
Part of why this song is fun is that it is deliberately over the top. "If you want to play dirty I'm gonna win" is at the heart of it ... it's more of a bragging/challenging thing than anything else.
This is actually based on a message Poe left on her moms answering machine once saying "It happened fast, not like i thought it would be, it didnt take very long for him to make a criminal of me, mom...I'm not a virgin anymore!" or something, lol cant remember it exactly. But i think it heard it on a radio show interview or something.
This is a great song. It makes me feel totally empowered. Poe is challenging the stereotype of the innocent female, and she does it so well! Girls can have fun, too. Also, to NicoleInWonderland's comment, there are a lot of vocal recordings of Poe's father on the album. If you read the inside cover of the album, she explains that she found these tapes of her father's lectures and things after he died. That is where the name "Haunted" comes from. Anyway, great song, great album.
I've always seen it as more about having control over a guy/relationship in general than plain out sex. She sees through the bullshit. You can't trick her with the lies anymore because she has been there quite a few times and already knows how most people put up a front to get what they want. Saying she's not a "virgin" is to say that when you're naive, you can get tricked into a lot of things because you're inexperienced. She's saying if you're going to try playing any games with her, it's going to be like playing with fire because she's not a "virgin" anymore and knows the shit some people make up to emotionally and physically screw with a person.
This song is hilarious! Obvously shes telling an ex boyfriend or someone she is getting back together with that shes been fucked now.
That would make sence since the whole album seems to be filld with answering machine crap.
I think the song it's self is a double standard. She isn't a Virgin by the means of sexuality. But this of the life the Poe lead...she is not innocent the the Cuelities of life. I think that once her eyes have been opened that innocence, and sexuality...she realizes that she isn't a virgin.
Yeah... I don't see why some people try to find so many hidden meanings. This song is clearly straight in your face, it's about getting jiggy with it.
